C9400-SUP-1XL-Y Description
The C9400-SUP-1XL-Y is a Cisco Catalyst 9400 Series Supervisor 1XL with 25G module for C9404R, C9407R and C9410R chassis in campus core and aggregation roles. The module adds up to 2 non-blocking 25GE uplinks to the 40GE QSFP and 10GE SFP+ options, with 1.44 Tbps of centralized wired capacity and 240, 120 or 80 Gbps per slot in a C9404R, C9407R or C9410R. MACsec is not supported in hardware on this supervisor, and neither are LRM optics.

Application Scenarios
In a campus core chassis, the supervisor connects upward over up to two non-blocking 25GE uplinks while its 40GE QSFP and 10GE SFP+ ports stay available for existing links.
At a segmentation boundary, a chassis with this supervisor can terminate MPLS or act as a software-defined access border using the host-tracking database, cross-domain connectivity and VRF-aware LISP that the hardware supports.

C9400-SUP-1XL-Y adds a 25 GE uplink option over C9400-SUP-1XL but gives up hardware MACsec and LRM optics, while slot rate, 1.44 Tbps capacity, 144,000 IPv4 routes and nine supported line cards stay identical, so links that must be encrypted in hardware need C9400-SUP-1XL. Neither engine goes past 80 Gbps per slot in a C9410R. A chassis that needs faster slots, 100 GE uplinks or any of C9400-LC-48HX, C9400-LC-48XS, C9400-LC-24XY, C9400-LC-12QC and C9400-LC-48TX moves to C9400X-SUP-2, which holds 240 Gbps per slot on all three chassis, supports 14 line cards and 9.6 Tbps, and requires Cisco IOS XE 17.7.1.

- Catalyst 9400 chassis: Seat C9400-SUP-1XL-Y in the supervisor slots of C9404R (slots 2 or 3), C9407R (slots 3 or 4) and C9410R (slots 5 or 6). Slots are fixed per chassis, and line cards are not supported in them.
- Catalyst 9400 line cards: This engine supports nine line cards: C9400-LC-48U, C9400-LC-48T, C9400-LC-48UX, C9400-LC-24XS, C9400-LC-48P, C9400-LC-24S, C9400-LC-48S, C9400-LC-48H and C9400-LC-48HN. C9400-LC-48HX, C9400-LC-48XS, C9400-LC-24XY, C9400-LC-12QC and C9400-LC-48TX are not supported.
