Key Features
The tier adds SD-Access, IPsec, app hosting, Encrypted Traffic Analytics and network assurance on top of the Essentials feature set.
The subscription runs for 3 years, the shortest of the 3, 5 and 7-year terms Cisco offers for Catalyst 9300 switches.
Cisco keeps a separate license line for 24-port 1G fiber hosts, so this subscription does not apply to copper models of the same port count.
A 3, 5 or 7-year Advantage subscription includes ThousandEyes Network and Application Synthetics and a Cisco Spaces Extend entitlement for the same term.
The Cisco DNA subscription covers software support with a 1-hour TAC response target for severity 1 and 2 requests, and does not include an ISE license.
The license is recorded in the customer’s Smart Account, where Smart Licensing keeps it available to move between Catalyst 9300 switches.

Sites that run Network Essentials hardware should order C9300-DNA-E-24S-3Y instead, because a new order keeps the subscription at the same tier as the Network Stack license. A project that needs coverage beyond three years moves to C9300-DNA-A-24S-5Y, the term the configurator selects by default. Cisco publishes no downgrade PID from Advantage to Essentials, so the tier is worth settling before the order.
Ordering Checklist
- License group: Use the 1G fiber license line, C9300-DNA-A-24S-3Y, -5Y or -7Y, for the 24-port 1G fiber hosts. Cisco keeps separate license lines for 1G fiber and copper models, and a copper 24-port PID does not match a fiber host.
- Tier: Keep DNA Advantage, matching the -A suffix of the switch. The configurator opens on Advantage, but new orders must keep the subscription at the same tier as the Network Stack license.
- Term: Select 3Y in place of the 5-year default. The configurator defaults to a 5-year term, so a 3-year entitlement has to be selected.
- Smart Account: Use an existing Smart Account, or create a new one at purchase. Catalyst 9300 licenses are stored in the Smart Account, and the order cannot be placed without one.
