N3K-ES-XF Description
The N3K-ES-XF is a Cisco Nexus 3000 Series NX-OS Essentials license for data center switches in the XF platform class below 6.4 Tbps. The license is perpetual and carries the Essentials package of BGP, OSPF, PIM, VXLAN BGP EVPN and sFlow telemetry. An Advantage license takes priority over it when both are installed, and feature support varies by platform and NX-OS release.

Application Scenarios
A data center leaf layer built from Nexus 3000 switches below 6.4 Tbps runs BGP or OSPF toward the spine using the Essentials package.
A single-site data center that stretches Layer 2 segments across racks with VXLAN BGP EVPN can do so under Essentials without any Advantage-only feature.
An operations team that exports sFlow or NetFlow records from top-of-rack switches to a collector uses the telemetry features in the Essentials package.

N3K-ES-XF is the perpetual Essentials license for Nexus 3000 switches below 6.4 Tbps, while N3K-ES-XF2 carries the same package and term for switches above 6.4 Tbps, so the throughput class of the switch decides between the two. Essentials covers routing and telemetry features such as BGP, OSPF, PIM, VXLAN BGP EVPN and sFlow, which is enough for designs that stay on those. A design that needs MPLS Layer 3 VPN, SR-MPLS, Tenant Routed Multicast or VXLAN EVPN Multi-site on the same switch moves to N3K-AD-XF, the Advantage license for the same class, which includes everything in Essentials and adds those features.
