The N9K-C9348GC-FX3 is a Cisco Nexus 9300-FX3 Series fixed data center switch for copper server and management access. The switch has 48 downlink ports at 10M/100M/1 Gbps BASE-T, four 1/10/25 Gbps SFP28 uplinks and two 40/100 Gbps QSFP28 uplinks, with a 40 MB system buffer and 226W typical power draw. The switch does not support Cisco Nexus 2000 Series Fabric Extenders or GPS 1PPS and 10MHz timing.

Product Performance
Key Features
All 48 downlinks are BASE-T ports at 10M/100M/1 Gbps. Devices with slow copper interfaces connect directly instead of occupying faster fiber ports.
Four SFP28 ports run at 1/10/25 Gbps and two QSFP28 ports at 40/100 Gbps. One switch can therefore feed a mid-speed distribution link and a 100G link at the same time.
The switch holds up to 1,792,000 IPv4 LPM routes, 512,000 MAC addresses and 128,000 multicast routes. Large routed or flat Layer 2 domains fit without adding capacity.
Power draw is 226W typical and 242W maximum, supplied by 350W AC, 440W DC or 350W HVAC/HVDC modules. A 48-port rack needs only modest PDU capacity.
NXA-SFAN-30CFM fans come in port-side intake and port-side exhaust versions. The fan part number fixes the airflow direction; no setting changes it afterward.
System memory is 32 GB by default and 32 GB expandable. The switch ships at its maximum, so control-plane sizing has to fit within that figure from the start.
Application Scenarios
In a data center row, the switch aggregates console servers, IPMI ports and management interfaces on its BASE-T ports and sends the traffic upstream over SFP28 uplinks.
A rack of older servers with 1 Gbps copper NICs terminates on the 48 downlink ports, while the two QSFP28 uplinks carry the rack’s traffic to the spine at up to 100 Gbps.
A Layer 3 access design for 1G devices can run on this switch, because its routing and MAC tables are sized for data center use rather than for the port speed.

N9K-C9348GC-FX3 is the only one of the three with 1 Gbps copper downlinks and a mixed uplink block of 4 SFP28 plus 2 QSFP28 ports, at 226W typical draw. Servers with 10G copper interfaces need N9K-C93108TC-FX3, which keeps 48 BASE-T downlinks at 100M/1/10 Gbps on 6 QSFP28 uplinks, while 25G fiber servers need N9K-C93180YC-FX3 with 48 SFP28 downlinks. GPS 1PPS and 10MHz timing and up to 16 Cisco Nexus 2000 Series Fabric Extenders are listed only for N9K-C93180YC-FX3 among the three, so a design that needs either one moves there.
Ordering Checklist
- Power supply PID: Select 350W AC (NXA-PAC-350W-PI or -PE), 440W DC (NXA-PDC-440W-PI or -PE), or 350W HVAC/HVDC (NXA-PHV-350W-PE); the 2026-10-05 data sheet lists NXA-PAC-350W-PI2 and -PE2 and adds NXA-PDC-715W-PI. The input type of the rack feed decides the PID, and the data sheet revisions name the 350W AC supplies differently.
- Fan module and airflow: Order NXA-SFAN-30CFM-PI for port-side intake or NXA-SFAN-30CFM-PE for port-side exhaust, with the same suffix as the power supplies. The PID suffix sets the airflow direction of each module.
- Uplink optics: Order SFP28 optics for the 4 uplinks at 1/10/25 Gbps and QSFP28 optics or cables for the 2 uplinks at 40/100 Gbps. The two uplink groups take different form factors, so one optic type cannot fill both.
