QSFP-100G-SR4-S Description
The QSFP-100G-SR4-S is a Cisco 100GBASE-SR4 QSFP transceiver for short 100G links inside a data hall over multimode fiber with MPO-12 connectors. The module reaches 70 m on OM3 and 100 m on OM4 or OM5 at 850 nm, draws up to 3.5W and operates from 0 to 70°C. The module uses 12-fiber parallel cabling and supports only PC or UPC patch cords.

Application Scenarios
Within a data hall, the module joins 100G QSFP ports on a top-of-rack switch and an end-of-row switch over an OM4 MPO-12 trunk of up to 100 m.
In a building whose racks are already trunked with 12-fiber OM3, OM4 or OM5 cabling, the module reuses the installed MPO-12 fiber at the reach set by the fiber grade.

QSFP-100G-SR4-S is the MPO-12 parallel multimode optic of this group, reaching 70 m on OM3 and 100 m on OM4 or OM5 at 3.5W. QSFP-100G-SL4 uses the same MPO-12 connector and draws only 2.5W, but its reach drops to 20 m on OM3 and 30 m on OM4 or OM5, so it suits short in-row links. Plants cabled with duplex LC multimode pairs take QSFP-100G-SR-S, which matches the SR4 reach at 3.5W, or QSFP-100G-SR1.2, a BiDi optic at 855 and 908 nm that reaches 150 m on OM5 but runs only from +10 to +60 degrees C at 3.9W.

- Host support: Confirm the target switch or router, line card and QSFP28 port are on Cisco’s 100 Gigabit Ethernet Transceiver Modules Compatibility Matrix for this optic. A host can reject an optic that fits the cage but is not on its compatibility list.
- Fiber and connector: Order MPO-12 patch cords on 12-fiber multimode cabling, PC or UPC polish. The optic has an MPO-12 port, not duplex LC, and the connector rule for this family excludes APC jumpers.
- Fiber grade: Use OM3 up to 70 m, or OM4 or OM5 up to 100 m. The reach rating depends on the installed fiber grade.
