QSFP-100G-CWDM4-S Description
The QSFP-100G-CWDM4-S is a Cisco 100GBASE CWDM4 QSFP transceiver for 100G links between data center switches over duplex LC single-mode fiber. The module carries four wavelengths at 1271, 1291, 1311, and 1331 nm across up to 2km of G.652 fiber, draws up to 3.5W and operates from 0 to 70 degrees C. The module accepts PC or UPC patch cords only, and its supported hosts are set by the Cisco 100 Gigabit Ethernet Transceiver Modules Compatibility Matrix.

A campus core and a distribution building up to 2km apart can run 100G over one G.652 single-mode pair, because the module multiplexes and demultiplexes its four wavelengths internally.

QSFP-100G-CWDM4-S and QSFP-100G-FR-S both reach 2km over duplex LC single-mode fiber, but QSFP-100G-CWDM4-S sends four wavelengths from 1271 to 1331 nm at 3.5W, while QSFP-100G-FR-S sends one 1304.5 to 1317.5 nm wavelength with PAM4 and FEC at 4.3W, so a far end built as FR1 needs QSFP-100G-FR-S. Cabinets that stay between 10 and 60 degrees C can use QSFP-100G-SM-SR, the CWDM4 Lite version, which the datasheet lists as interoperable with QSFP-100G-CWDM4-S. Plants cabled with MPO-12 parallel fiber and runs of 500m or less call for QSFP-100G-PSM4-S, which needs a different fiber plan from the duplex LC pair.
Ordering Checklist
- Host support: Confirm the host switch or router is listed for this optic in the Cisco 100 Gigabit Ethernet Transceiver Modules Compatibility Matrix. The datasheet leaves exact hosts to the matrix, and a QSFP28 cage alone does not make the optic supported.
- Patch cords: Order duplex LC patch cords with PC or UPC connectors, not APC. Only PC or UPC jumpers are allowed on QSFP-100G-CWDM4-S; APC is documented for QSFP-100G-PSM4-S only.
