DS-SFP-FC32G-LW Description
The DS-SFP-FC32G-LW is a Cisco MDS 9000 Series 32-Gbps Fibre Channel longwave SFP+ transceiver for single-mode SAN links that span buildings or data center halls. The transceiver autosenses 8, 16 and 32 Gbps on a dual LC interface, transmits at 1310 nm and reaches 10 km over 9.0-micron single-mode fiber at 0 to 70 degrees C. On the MDS 9124V, 9148V and 9396V the optic is supported only from release 9.3(x), not on 9.2(x).

A 32G MDS 9000 Series fabric reaches storage in a second building over duplex LC single-mode fiber. The transceiver covers spans of up to 10 km at 8, 16 or 32 Gbps.
A fabric that serves new 32G arrays beside older 8G and 16G hosts can use one longwave optic type. The transceiver autosenses 8, 16 and 32 Gbps on the same single-mode run.

DS-SFP-FC32G-LW is the 1310 nm single-mode model, rated for 10 km with a 6.4 dB loss budget, while DS-SFP-FC32G-SW uses 850 nm multimode fiber and reaches 100 m at 32 Gbps on OM4 or OM5, so a multimode plant needs DS-SFP-FC32G-SW instead. A single-mode route longer than 10 km needs DS-SFP-FC32G-ELW, documented for 25 km and transmitting at -4.7 to 7 dBm against -5.0 to 2.0 dBm on DS-SFP-FC32G-LW. Cisco lists DS-SFP-FC32G-LW on MDS 9124V, 9148V and 9396V only from release 9.3(x), not on 9.2(x).
