QSFP-4SFP10G-CU1M Description
The QSFP-4SFP10G-CU1M is a Cisco 40GBASE-CR4 QSFP to four 10GBASE-CU SFP+ passive direct-attach breakout cable for short links inside a rack or between adjacent racks. The 1 m copper assembly turns one 40G QSFP port into four 10G SFP+ connections, with the breakout 0.33 m from the 40G end and 30 AWG cable at the QSFP end. Passive copper in this series stops at 5 m, and the 7 m and 10 m lengths are active cables.

Application Scenarios
In a data center row, the cable connects a 40G QSFP+ uplink port on a Nexus switch to four 10G SFP+ server-facing ports in the same cabinet. Passive copper carries the 40G-to-4x10G split without separate optics.
Between neighboring racks, one 40G port on an aggregation switch fans out to four 10G SFP+ ports on an access switch. The 0.33 m breakout location leaves the four 5 mm SFP-end legs enough slack to reach the faceplate.

QSFP-4SFP10G-CU1M is the 1 m member of this passive breakout family, with the four SFP+ legs separating 0.33 m from the 40G end, while QSFP-4SFP10-CU0-5 is 0.5 m long and splits at the 40G connector itself. Runs that need more reach move to QSFP-4SFP10G-CU3M, which keeps the 30 AWG, 7 mm QSFP-end cable and splits 1 m from the 40G end, or to QSFP-4SFP10G-CU5M for 5 m runs, which splits 2 m out. QSFP-4SFP10G-CU5M also changes to 26 AWG and a 9 mm QSFP-end cable, so it needs more tray and bend space than the 1 m cable. Cisco offers 7 m and 10 m lengths only as active cables, QSFP-4X10G-AC7M and QSFP-4X10G-AC10M.
