QSFP-H40G-AOC15M Description
The QSFP-H40G-AOC15M is a Cisco 40GBASE-AOC QSFP+ to QSFP+ active optical cable for 40G links of up to 15 meters between racks or across a cabinet row. The cable has a 3.5 mm QSFP-end diameter, a 60 mm bend radius, a 115 mm face plate distance, a PVC jacket and a black pull tab, and each end draws 1.5W. The thin optical construction takes less room in cable managers than copper and has no EMI concerns.

Two cabinets on opposite sides of an aisle can be joined at 40G through overhead trays when the measured route is longer than 10 meters, with the 60 mm bend radius setting the tightest turn along the way.
Dense rack rows with full cable managers carry 40G QSFP+ links on the 3.5 mm optical cable, whose thin profile leaves more space for exhaust air than a 9 mm copper cable.

QSFP-H40G-AOC15M is the 15-meter cable of the QSFP-H40G-AOC group, which differs from QSFP-H40G-AOC10M and QSFP-H40G-AOC20M only in length and pull tab color (black here, red at 10 meters, green at 20 meters), with the same 3.5 mm diameter, 60 mm bend radius and 115 mm face plate distance. Paths of 10 meters or less fit QSFP-H40G-AOC10M, and paths longer than 15 meters up to 20 meters fit QSFP-H40G-AOC20M; Cisco lists the same cable in 25 and 30 meters for longer routes. Where 10 meters is enough and copper is acceptable, QSFP-H40G-ACU10M is the active copper alternative, at 9 mm thick against 3.5 mm here.
Ordering Checklist
- Host support: Confirm the 40G QSFP port on the host and the far-end ports for QSFP-H40G-AOC15M appear in Cisco’s Optics-to-Device Compatibility Matrix (tmgmatrix.cisco.com). Platform support is listed in that matrix, not in the cable data sheet.
- Platforms with SFP+ ports only: Add the CVR-4SFP10G-QSFP reverse adapter, which lists QSFP-H40G-AOC15M as a supported QSFP+ module; CVR-TRAY-8 or CVR-BRKT-1 holds the adapters. A cable with QSFP+ ends has no port to plug into on a platform that offers only SFP+ ports.
