SFP-10/25G-CSR-S Description
The SFP-10/25G-CSR-S is a Cisco 10/25GBASE-CSR SFP28 transceiver for 10G and 25G multimode fiber links within data centers and campus buildings. The module transmits at 850 nm on a dual LC/PC connector and reaches 300 m on OM3 or 400 m on OM4 and OM5 at both rates, with a 0 to 70°C case rating. At 25G that reach depends on fiber quality and needs RS-FEC on the host port, and pairing with an IEEE 10G-SR optic may overload the receiver.

Application Scenarios
In a data hall cabled with OM4 trunks, Nexus 9300 leaf switches reach Nexus 9500 spine switches several rows away, and the module carries those 25G links over runs of up to 400 m with RS-FEC on the switch ports.
A campus building with an OM3 multimode riser links Catalyst 9300 access closets to a Catalyst 9500 distribution switch, and the module runs those links at 10G or 25G over the same fiber.

SFP-10/25G-CSR-S reaches 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4 at 10G or 25G with RS-FEC, while SFP-25G-SR-S on the same 850 nm multimode fiber is 25G only and stops at 70 m and 100 m. On hosts that run only BASE-R FEC at 25G, SFP-10/25G-CSR-S drops to the same 70 m and 100 m. SFP-25G-SL stops at 20 m on OM3 and 30 m on OM4 or OM5, so it suits only 25G runs that stay within those lengths. Links on G.652 single-mode fiber need SFP-10/25G-LR-S, which keeps both rates over 10 km at 1310 nm.
Ordering Checklist
- Host support: The target switch, such as a Catalyst 9300, Catalyst 9500 or Nexus 9300 model, lists SFP-10/25G-CSR-S in the Cisco TMG matrix. Support for another 25G optic does not cover this PID.
- Fiber and patch cords: The run is OM3, OM4 or OM5 multimode fiber with LC patch cords that have PC or UPC end faces. APC patch cords are not supported on this optic.
- Far-end optic: Check the far-end optic against SFP-10/25G-CSR-S in the Cisco Optics-to-Optics interoperability matrix. Pairing with an IEEE 10G-SR optic may overload the receiver.
