SFP-H25G-CU4M Description
The SFP-H25G-CU4M is a Cisco 25GBASE-CR1 SFP28 passive copper direct-attach cable for 25 Gigabit Ethernet links between supported SFP28 host ports in adjacent equipment rows. It provides a fixed 4-meter reach with SFP28 connectors at both ends, a green pull tab, and 0.1W maximum power consumption. The cable requires RS-FEC on the host ports.

In a campus distribution closet, the cable connects the C9300-NM-2Y 25G uplink module of a Catalyst 9300 switch to an SFP28 port on an adjacent aggregation switch.

SFP-H25G-CU4M is the 4-meter, green-latch passive copper cable and the first one in this group that needs RS-FEC on the host ports, where SFP-H25G-CU3M at 3 meters needs only BASE-R FEC. A route longer than 4 meters moves to SFP-H25G-CU5M, which keeps the RS-FEC requirement and has a gray latch. Where the 4-meter run should use active optical media instead of copper, SFP-25G-AOC4M has the same length and green latch, draws 1W against 0.1W, and accepts either BASE-R FEC or RS-FEC.
Ordering Checklist
- Catalyst 9200L fixed 25G uplinks: Confirm the switch is a Catalyst 9200L model with 2x25G SFP28 uplink ports. Only the 25G uplink variants have SFP28 ports; the 4x1G and 4x10G uplink models take 1G SFP or 10G SFP+ modules.
- Catalyst 9200 25G uplink module: Add C9200-NM-2Y (2x25G) in C9200-24PXG or C9200-48PXG. C9200-NM-2Y is supported only on those two C9200 models.
- Catalyst 9300 25G uplink module: Add C9300-NM-2Y (2x25GE SFP28 slots) in a modular-uplink Catalyst 9300 switch. The 25G SFP28 slots sit on this uplink module, not on the 1G, 10G or 40G modules.
