SFP-25G-AOC5M Description
The SFP-25G-AOC5M is a Cisco 25GBASE-AOC SFP28 active optical cable for 25G Ethernet links of up to 5 m between SFP28 ports. The cable is a fixed 5 m assembly with a gray pull tab, 1W maximum power consumption and commercial 0 to 70°C operation. Host ports must run BASE-R FEC or RS-FEC, and Catalyst CW9800H2 controllers have no 25G port to take it.

A Catalyst C9200L multigigabit switch or a CW9800H1 or CW9800M controller uses the cable on its 25G SFP28 ports to reach the adjacent switch or server.

SFP-25G-AOC5M is the 5 m active optical cable of this group, 1 m longer than SFP-25G-AOC4M, which keeps the same SFP28 ends, 25 Gigabit Ethernet rate, 1W maximum power and BASE-R FEC or RS-FEC host requirement on a 4 m run. Paths of 4 m or less can use SFP-25G-AOC4M, and longer paths move to SFP-25G-AOC7M. SFP-H25G-CU5M has the same 5 m length but is a passive copper cable drawing 0.1W instead of 1W, and its host port must run RS-FEC. Where the link must stay optical, SFP-25G-AOC5M is the 5 m option.
