QSFP-40G-SR-BD Description
QSFP-40G-SR-BD is a Cisco 40GBASE-SR BiDirectional QSFP+ optical transceiver designed for fast, cost-effective 40G Ethernet migration. Known as the "Cisco 40G BiDi module" or "40GBASE-SR-BD QSFP+," it allows customers to leverage existing 10G duplex multimode fiber infrastructure for 40G connectivity without the need for new cabling. The module operates over OM3, OM4, or OM5 multimode fiber using a standard duplex LC connector, supporting up to 100 meters on OM3 and 150 meters on OM4/OM5. With two bidirectional channels in the 832–918nm range, it delivers 40G speeds while simplifying data center and enterprise network upgrades. It is ideal for environments seeking maximum fiber reuse, reduced cost, and straightforward deployment, and complies with the QSFP MSA specification for broad compatibility.
