N9K-SUP-A+ Description
The N9K-SUP-A+ is a Cisco Nexus 9500 Supervisor A+ module for the Nexus 9504, 9508 and 9516 modular chassis. The module has a 4-core, 8-thread 1.8 GHz x86 processor, 16 GB of DRAM, two USB ports, one serial port and one 10/100/1000-Mbps Ethernet management port, and it draws 69W typical and 80W maximum. The module is not supported in Nexus 9504 and 9508 chassis that hold -R or -R2 line cards, and a redundant pair must use two supervisors of the same type.

Application Scenarios
In a Nexus 9504, 9508 or 9516 chassis, the module runs the control plane in either ACI or NX-OS mode and manages the line cards and fabric modules.
A chassis that needs control-plane redundancy holds two of the modules, with state synchronized between the active and standby supervisor.

N9K-SUP-A+ differs from N9K-SUP-A in its 4-core, 8-thread processor against 4 threads, with the same 16GB DRAM, and in a minimum NX-OS release of 7.0(3)I7(1) against 6.1(2)I1(1) or later. N9K-SUP-B and N9K-SUP-B+ move to 6 cores and 12 threads with 24GB and 32GB DRAM, so a chassis that needs more than 16GB uses N9K-SUP-B+, which also draws up to 90 W against 80 W. The A and B families cannot share a chassis: a dual-supervisor pair must be two of the same family, except during a Cisco-supported migration from A to B. N9K-SUP-A+ and N9K-SUP-A are not supported with -R or -R2 line cards in Nexus 9504 and 9508 chassis, a restriction not listed for N9K-SUP-B and N9K-SUP-B+.
Ordering Checklist
- Nexus 9500 chassis: Use the module in a Nexus 9504 (N9K-C9504), 9508 (N9K-C9508) or 9516 (N9K-C9516); N9K-SUP-A+ is not supported in the 9504 and 9508 when they carry -R or -R2 line cards. One module fits all three chassis, but those two chassis with -R or -R2 line cards need a different supervisor.
- Supervisor pairing: Pair it with another N9K-SUP-A+ or N9K-SUP-A as the second supervisor, not N9K-SUP-B or N9K-SUP-B+. Supervisor A and B families are not compatible in one chassis, except during a Cisco-supported migration.
- Spare part PID: Order N9K-SUP-A+= with the equals sign. Spare parts are listed with the equals sign, so the PID without it is a different order line.
