For dual-supervisor operation, confirm the installed supervisor model. Redundant supervisors should be the same type within the chassis to support active-standby redundancy.

3. Check NX-OS release and line-card limitations

Confirm that the installed NX-OS release supports Supervisor A+. Cisco release notes also state that N9K-SUP-A and N9K-SUP-A+ are not supported on Cisco Nexus 9504 and 9508 switches with -R and -R2 line cards.

4. Choose Supervisor B family for supported migration requirements

If the project is migrating from Supervisor A family to Supervisor B family, use Cisco migration guidance and quote the correct matching Supervisor B pair rather than mixing long-term supervisor types.
