N9K-X9732C-FX Description
The N9K-X9732C-FX is a Cisco Nexus 9500 Series cloud-scale line card for 100G aggregation in Nexus 9504, Nexus 9508 and Nexus 9516 data center chassis. The card has 32 100G QSFP28 ports, 6.4 Tbps of performance, a 160 MB packet buffer and MACSec support. It runs in NX-OS mode only, not as an ACI spine, and N+1 fabric module redundancy takes five fabric modules with no other line card type in the chassis.

Application Scenarios
A Nexus 9500 chassis running NX-OS aggregates 100G links from leaf switches on the 32 QSFP28 ports of the card. Four fabric modules give full bandwidth, and a fifth adds N+1 redundancy.
Where links between data center halls or buildings must be encrypted, the card applies MACSec on its 100G QSFP28 ports. The chassis then stays in NX-OS mode, since the card is not an ACI spine.

N9K-X9732C-FX is the 32-port 100G line card with MACSec and N+1 fabric module redundancy, while N9K-X9732C-EX has the same QSFP28 ports and 6.4 Tbps but is the one listed for ACI spine and has neither MACSec nor N+1, so ACI spine fabrics must order N9K-X9732C-EX. N+1 redundancy takes five fabric modules instead of four, and Cisco notes the chassis must hold only N9K-X9732C-FX line cards to get it. N9K-X9736C-FX offers 36 ports and 7.2 Tbps with MACSec and ACI spine support, but needs five fabric modules for full bandwidth and has no N+1. Copper 1/10G designs move to N9K-X9788TC-FX, which pairs 48 BaseT ports with four 40/100G QSFP28 ports at 1.76 Tbps.

- Fabric modules: Order four FM-E, FM-E2 or FM-G fabric modules for maximum bandwidth, or five for N+1 redundancy, with only N9K-X9732C-FX line cards in the chassis. Four fabric modules give full bandwidth but no N+1, and a chassis mixed with other line cards cannot reach N+1 with five.
