The N9K-C93180YC-FX is a Cisco Nexus 9300-FX Series fixed 1RU switch for data center leaf racks with 25G fiber-attached servers. The switch has 48 1/10/25G SFP downlinks, six 40/100G QSFP28 uplinks, 3.6 Tbps of bandwidth, a 1.2 bpps forwarding rate and 40 MB of system buffer, backed by 32 GB of memory. The downlinks also run 16/32G Fibre Channel, which needs a feature license.

Product Performance
Key Features
The 48 downlinks run at 1G, 10G or 25G, and 25G links support IEEE-compliant, FC-FEC and RS-FEC modes. Cabling is fiber, DAC or AOC rather than RJ-45.
The QSFP28 uplinks are fixed ports that join the leaf to the spine without an uplink module. They also take combinations of 1G, 10G, 25G, 40G, 50G and 100G connectivity.
The same downlinks run 16G or 32G Fibre Channel for storage traffic, which requires a feature license. Ethernet and Fibre Channel can share one chassis.
The 6-core CPU and up to 32 GB of memory are the largest in the Nexus 9300-FX group. The 3.6 Tbps of bandwidth is also the highest among the three models.
MACsec is supported from NX-OS 9.2(1) but not on 1G ports, and one 1G port takes every port in its MAC block out of MACsec. Ports at 10G and above can be encrypted with a Security license.
The switch can parent Nexus 2000 fabric extenders such as N2K-C2248TP from NX-OS 7.0(3)I7(3), and most other models from 9.2(1). Rows that keep extenders can stay on this model.
Application Scenarios
In a Nexus leaf layer, the switch connects servers over 1G, 10G or 25G fiber or DAC links and sends traffic to the spine on 40G or 100G QSFP28 uplinks.
A data center that runs Cisco ACI can place the switch in ACI mode as the leaf for 25G hosts, with the policy model applied from the fabric controllers.
At the edge of a storage network, the 16/32G Fibre Channel downlinks attach hosts or arrays to the same fixed switch that carries Ethernet traffic.

N9K-C93180YC-FX has 48 fiber downlinks at 1G, 10G or 25G, while N9K-C93108TC-FX has 48 copper ports at 100M, 1G or 10G, so racks whose servers connect over 10GBASE-T cabling move to N9K-C93108TC-FX. Only N9K-C93180YC-FX lists 16/32G Fibre Channel on its downlink ports, and its 3.6 Tbps and 6-core CPU compare with 2.16 Tbps and 4 cores on N9K-C93108TC-FX. A design that needs only 100M or 1G copper access, four SFP28 ports and two 40/100G QSFP28 uplinks fits N9K-C9348GC-FXP, which tops out at 696 Gbps and takes 350W AC or 440W DC supplies instead of the 500W AC, 930W DC or 1200W HVAC/HVDC units. All three models share the NXOS-703I7.1 minimum image.
Ordering Checklist
- Airflow direction: Order fans NXA-FAN-30CFM-B or NXA-FAN-30CFM-F with supplies in the matching -PI or -PE version, such as NXA-PAC-500W-PI or NXA-PDC-930W-PE. N9K-PUV-1200W supports both directions. Fans and supplies are separate PIDs per direction, so the order must carry one direction throughout.
- Supply type: Select 500W AC (NXA-PAC-500W-PI or NXA-PAC-500W-PE), 930W DC (NXA-PDC-930W-PI or NXA-PDC-930W-PE) or the 1200W HVAC/HVDC N9K-PUV-1200W. The supply PID decides the site power input; up to two supplies fit.
- Power cords: Add a cord for the site, such as CAB-9K12A-NA, CAB-9K10A-EU or CAB-C13-C14-2M. N9K-PUV-1200W takes its own cords, CAB-HVAC-SD-0.6M or CAB-HVAC-RT-0.6M.
- Rack-mount kit: Add NXK-ACC-KIT-1RU, the Nexus fixed accessory kit with 4-post rack mount. It is listed as an accessory for the N9300-FX family and is not part of the base switch.
- NX-OS license: Select an XF-class PID, such as NXOS-AD-XF for a perpetual Advantage license. GF-class PIDs are for 1G fixed platforms, and a perpetual DCN license cannot be moved to another switch later.
- Add-on licenses: Add ACI-SEC-XF for MACsec and ACI-STRG for the Fibre Channel downlinks. NXOS-SEC-XF and NXOS-STRG are no longer orderable, so the ACI- PIDs go on the order.
