N9K-C93108TC-FX3 Description
The N9K-C93108TC-FX3 is a Cisco N9300-FX3 Series 1RU data center access switch for server racks cabled with 10GBASE-T copper. The 48 RJ-45 downlinks run at 100M, 1G or 10G with no PoE, and six 40/100G QSFP28 uplinks sit behind 2.16 Tbps of bandwidth, 1.2 Bpps of forwarding and a 40 MB buffer, in port-side intake or exhaust builds. The switch does not support Nexus 2000 Series Fabric Extenders, and MACsec is limited to uplink ports 49 to 54.

Product Performance
Key Features
Each of the 48 RJ-45 downlinks is configured for 100M, 1G or 10G, which lets older 1G servers and current 10GBASE-T hosts share one rack switch. The ports carry data only, with no PoE output.
The six QSFP28 uplinks run as 40G or 100G ports, or in combinations of 1G, 10G, 25G, 40G, 50G and 100G connectivity. A rack can join a 40G spine now and move to 100G later by changing optics rather than the switch.
From NX-OS 10.4(2)F, MACsec encrypts traffic on ports 49 to 54, the six QSFP28 uplinks; the 48 copper downlinks are not covered. Encryption needs a Security license, and a port running MACsec gives up link-level and priority flow control.
The switch runs Cisco NX-OS from NXOS-10.4.2, Cisco ACI from ACI-16.0.5, or the cloud-managed Cisco Nexus Hyperfabric from release 26-03.
An AC room, a -48V DC plant and high-voltage AC or DC distribution all take the same switch; only the supply pair changes. The two hot-swappable supply slots run N+1, and power planning works from the 464W maximum draw rather than the 420W typical figure.
Shared tables hold up to 1,792,000 IPv4 LPM routes and 512,000 MAC addresses, with 32 GB of system memory and a 128 GB SSD behind them. Up to 16,000 VRF instances leave room for many tenants on a single leaf.
Application Scenarios
In a rack of servers with 10GBASE-T network cards, the switch connects each host over RJ-45 copper patch cabling and carries rack traffic to the spine on its 40/100G QSFP28 uplinks.
A data center team running Cisco Nexus Hyperfabric can add copper-attached servers to the fabric with this switch as a cloud-managed leaf.
Where the leaf and its spine sit in different rooms or buildings, the 100G uplinks between them can run MACsec while servers stay on unencrypted copper inside the rack.

N9K-C93108TC-FX3 runs its 48 copper ports at 100M, 1G or 10G with no PoE, while N9K-C93108TC-FX3P adds 2.5G and 5G rates and PoE, PoE+ or UPoE on ports 1 to 48 behind the same six QSFP28 uplinks and 2.16 Tbps. Racks that power devices from the switch, or rows that hang Nexus 2000 Fabric Extenders off the leaf, need N9K-C93108TC-FX3P, since N9K-C93108TC-FX3 has no FEX support. Servers on 1/10/25G SFP28 optics or DAC cables move to N9K-C93180YC-FX3, with 3.6 Tbps on the same uplinks. A fabric that cannot move to NXOS-10.4.2 points to N9K-C93108TC-FX, the prior generation with the same port layout, FEX support and a minimum of NXOS-703I7.1.
Ordering Checklist
- Airflow direction: Order the four fans and the supplies for the rack’s airflow: NXA-SFAN-35CFM-PI with NXA-PAC-500W-PI or NXA-PDC-930W-PI for port-side intake, or the -PE versions for port-side exhaust. N9K-PUV-1200W has bidirectional airflow.
- Power input: Choose NXA-PAC-500W-PI or -PE for 100 to 240V AC, NXA-PDC-930W-PI or -PE for -48 to -60V DC, or N9K-PUV-1200W for 200 to 277V HVAC and -240 to -380V HVDC feeds. The switch holds up to two supplies.
- NX-OS license: Add an NX-OS license, subscription or perpetual, when the switch will route. The default software covers only Layer 2 security and management; Layer 3 unicast and multicast routing and Nexus Data Broker need the additional license.
- Security license: Add a Security license when uplink ports 49 to 54 will run MACsec. MACsec does not run without it.
- Rack-mount kit: Add NXK-ACC-KIT-1RU for a 4-post rack or NXK-ACC-KIT-2P for a 2-post rack.
