The N9K-C93240YC-FX2 is a Cisco Nexus 9300-FX2 Series 1.2RU fixed-port data center switch for 25G server leaf racks. The switch provides 48 1/10/25-Gbps downlink ports, twelve 40/100-Gbps QSFP28 uplinks, 4.8 Tbps of bandwidth, over 2.5 bpps of forwarding, and port-side intake or exhaust airflow. Fibre Channel and FCoE are not supported; FC-FEC on the 25G ports is a forward error correction mode, not a storage feature.

Key Features
Forty-eight 25-Gbps downlinks add up to 1.2 Tbps, matching twelve 100-Gbps uplinks, so a full rack at line rate does not contend for uplink bandwidth.
FC-FEC and RS-FEC are enabled on the 25G ports. Server rows that sit farther from the leaf can keep their 25G links instead of dropping to a shorter cable plan.
Up to two supplies can be 750W AC, 1100W AC, 1100W DC or 1100W HVAC/HVDC. The same chassis therefore fits AC racks, -40 to -72V DC facilities and high-voltage DC feeds up to -380V.
On AC the switch draws 298W typical and 708W at maximum. Circuit planning should use the 708W figure, not the typical one.
The chassis is 2.1 in. high and 23.3 in. deep, and five fans move air port-side intake or exhaust. Only the 35CFM single fans are listed for this switch.
Rated MTBF is 345,950 hours, a figure useful when comparing availability targets across a rack design.
Application Scenarios
At the top of a rack of 25G servers, the switch connects up to 48 of them on its downlink ports and sends their traffic to the spine over twelve 100-Gbps uplinks.
In an NX-OS mode data center built on a standards-based VXLAN EVPN fabric, including a hierarchical multi-site design, the switch serves as the leaf where a rack of servers attaches.
A site that runs Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure can install the switch as a leaf node with the ACI image, in the same rack position an NX-OS mode leaf would take.

Racks that terminate more than 48 servers at 25G need N9K-C93360YC-FX2, which also requires NXOS-9.3(1) or ACI-N9KDK9-14.1.2, later than the NXOS-703I7.3 and ACI-N9KDK9-14.0 floors of this model. Racks that need only 40/100-Gbps ports, 36 QSFP28 with breakout on every port, use N9K-C9336C-FX2 instead.
