SFP-10G-SR-S Description
The SFP-10G-SR-S is a Cisco 10GBASE-SR S-Class SFP+ transceiver for 10G links of up to 400 m over duplex multimode fiber. The module uses 850 nm optics on dual LC connectors, reaches 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4 or OM5 fiber, draws up to 1W and operates from 0 to 70°C. The S-Class module does not support FCoE, so links that carry FCoE need a different optic.

Application Scenarios
On a Catalyst 9200L Multigigabit switch, the module fills a 10G uplink port and carries traffic to an aggregation switch over OM3 or OM4 multimode patching.
Between a top-of-rack switch and servers in the same hall, the module carries 10G IP traffic over short multimode runs where no FCoE is needed.

SFP-10G-SR-S and SFP-10G-SR share the same 850 nm reach of 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4 or OM5, but SFP-10G-SR-S is the S-Class listing and its protocol scope is 10GBASE-SR with no FCoE support, so links that carry FCoE must be planned outside this PID. Sites with extended-temperature requirements move to SFP-10G-SR-X, which adds 10GBASE-SW and OTU2e support. Industrial-temperature enclosures, or links that need CPRI options, move to SFP-10G-SR-I, which adds 10GBASE-SW and OTU2/2e. All four optics draw a maximum of 1W and use a beige bail latch, so the choice rests on temperature class and protocol scope.

- Catalyst 9200L hosts: Confirm the host is a Catalyst 9200L Multigigabit model (C9200L-24PXG-2Y, C9200L-24PXG-4X, C9200L-48PXG-2Y or C9200L-48PXG-4X) using its 10G uplinks. A cable that fits an SFP+ cage can still be unsupported; Cisco’s TMG matrix is the final reference for each host.
- Fiber connector: Order LC patch cords for the 10GBASE-SR SFP+ port. The SFP+ optic terminates in an LC connector.
