SFP-10G-LR-X Description
The SFP-10G-LR-X is a Cisco extended-temperature multirate 10GBASE-LR SFP+ transceiver for 10G links over single-mode fiber at sites that run beyond commercial temperature limits. The module reaches 10 km over G.652 fiber at 1310 nm through dual LC connectors, operates from -5 to 85°C and draws up to 1W. The module carries 10GBASE-LR, 10GBASE-LW and OTU2e signals, and its 10 km reach applies to single-mode fiber only.

At a service demarcation, the module carries 10GBASE-LR, 10GBASE-LW or OTU2e signals from a host SFP+ port onto a G.652 single-mode span.

SFP-10G-LR-X is the extended-temperature, multirate version of the 10 km 1310 nm LR optic: it covers 10GBASE-LR, 10GBASE-LW and OTU2e over G.652 single-mode fiber and is rated -5 to 85 degrees C, while SFP-10G-LR supports 10GBASE-LR only at the commercial 0 to 70 degrees C range. Ethernet-only links in commercial-temperature locations can use SFP-10G-LR, because reach, wavelength, 1W power and the blue latch are identical. SFP-10G-LR-S is the S-Class listing, and Cisco’s S-Class note excludes FCoE, so FCoE links need SFP-10G-LR-X or SFP-10G-LR. Sites that need an industrial temperature class or CPRI move to SFP-10G-LR10-I.
Ordering Checklist
- Host support: Confirm the target platform and port are listed for this optic in Cisco’s Transceiver Module Group Compatibility Matrix (tmgmatrix.cisco.com). A host can reject an optic that fits the cage but is not on its supported list.
- Fiber type and length: Use G.652 single-mode fiber at 1310 nm with the link inside 10 km. Multimode plant or longer spans need a different optic.
