SFP-10G-AOC5M Description
The SFP-10G-AOC5M is a Cisco 10GBASE-AOC SFP+ active optical cable assembly for 10 Gigabit Ethernet links between SFP+ host ports. The cable is 5 meters long with a gray bail latch, draws 1W at most and operates from 0 to 70 degrees C. The assembly only fits SFP+ ports, so Catalyst 1300 models without SFP+ cages cannot use it.

On a Catalyst 9200L Multigigabit Ethernet or Catalyst 1300 access switch, the cable connects a 10G SFP+ uplink to an aggregation switch in the same room without separate transceivers.

SFP-10G-AOC5M is the 5-meter, gray-latch active optical cable, one step longer than the 3-meter, orange-latch SFP-10G-AOC3M and one step shorter than the 7-meter, blue-latch SFP-10G-AOC7M; all three draw 1W. Runs longer than 5 meters move to SFP-10G-AOC7M, and runs of 3 meters or less fit SFP-10G-AOC3M. A 5-meter link built on copper can use SFP-H10GB-CU5M, a passive twinax cable with the same gray latch and 0.1W maximum draw against 1W for SFP-10G-AOC5M.

- Catalyst 1300 hosts: Use Catalyst 1300 switches with SFP+ ports, such as C1300-24XS, C1300-12XT-2X and C1300-24MGP-4X. SFP-10G-AOC5M is a 5-meter active optical cable in the Catalyst 1300 supported-SFP table; models without SFP+ ports have no cage for it.
