SFP-10G-ZR Description
The SFP-10G-ZR is a Cisco multirate 10GBASE-ZR SFP+ transceiver for long 10G links over G.652 single-mode fiber. The module reaches about 80 km at 1550 nm through dual LC connectors, operates from 0 to 70°C and draws up to 1.5W. The module carries 10GBASE-ZR, 10GBASE-ZW and OTU2e signals, and short spans need an in-line attenuator of 5 to 15 dB to avoid overloading its receiver.

At a carrier demarcation, the module passes 10GBASE-ZR, 10GBASE-ZW or OTU2/OTU2e signals from a host SFP+ port onto a long single-mode span.

SFP-10G-ZR is the longest-reach optic of this group: 1550 nm over G.652 single-mode fiber to about 80 km at 1.5W, against 40 km for SFP-10G-ER and 10 km at 1310 nm for SFP-10G-LR. Spans up to 40 km can use SFP-10G-ER, and spans up to 10 km can use SFP-10G-LR, which needs no attenuator. SFP-10G-ZR also covers ZW and OTU2/OTU2e, which SFP-10G-ER does not. SFP-10G-ZR-S is the S-Class listing without FCoE support, and SFP-10G-ZR-I is the industrial-temperature option at 70 km and 2W.

- Host support: Confirm the target platform and port are listed for this optic in Cisco’s Transceiver Module Group Compatibility Matrix (tmgmatrix.cisco.com). A host can reject an optic that fits the cage but is not on its supported list.
- Attenuator: Add 15 dB for spans under 5 km, 10 dB for 5 to 25 km, or 5 dB for 25 to 45 km. Without the right in-line attenuator a short ZR link overloads the receiver.
