SFP-10G-ZR-S Description
The SFP-10G-ZR-S is a Cisco 10GBASE-ZR S-Class SFP+ transceiver for long single-mode links between buildings or sites. The module transmits at 1550 nm over ITU-T G.652 fiber for about 80 km on dual LC/PC connectors, draws up to 1.5W and operates from 0 to 70 degrees C. The module does not support Fibre Channel over Ethernet, so it carries Ethernet traffic only.

For a data center interconnect that carries only Ethernet, the module serves as the long-reach uplink, and storage-converged traffic stays on other optics because the module has no FCoE support.

SFP-10G-ZR-S is the S-Class 10GBASE-ZR optic with no FCoE support, while SFP-10G-ZR carries the multirate ZR, ZW and OTU2/OTU2e ordering description at the same 1550 nm, about 80 km reach and 1.5W, so links that must carry OTU2/OTU2e or ZW traffic move to SFP-10G-ZR. Sites that need an industrial temperature class instead of 0 to 70 degrees C should order SFP-10G-ZR-I, which is listed at 70 km, draws up to 2W and needs an inline attenuator below 40 km. Spans that stop at 40 km fit SFP-10G-ER-S, the S-Class ER optic with a red latch and a 5 dB attenuator below 20 km, whereas SFP-10G-ZR-S uses 15 dB below 5 km, 10 dB from 5 km to 25 km and 5 dB from 25 km to 45 km.
