The N9K-C93180YC-FX3 is a Cisco Nexus 9300-FX3 Series 1RU fixed-port data center switch for 25G server racks. The switch provides 48 1/10/25G SFP28 downlink ports, six 40/100G QSFP28 uplinks, 3.6 Tbps of switching bandwidth, 1.2 Bpps of forwarding, and port-side intake or exhaust airflow. Parent support for up to 16 Nexus 2000 Series Fabric Extenders is available on this model.

Product Performance
Key Features
Each downlink cage runs at 1G, 10G or 25G with the matching optic or cable, so one rack can hold servers from several NIC generations.
Six 100G uplinks give 600G against 1.2 Tbps of downlink, a 2:1 ratio when every server port runs at 25G. Racks with lighter traffic stay well below that.
The switch can act as parent for up to 16 Nexus 2000 Series Fabric Extenders, which extends the port count of a row without adding switches to manage.
MACsec link encryption is supported at all port speeds, including 1G and 10G.
The four fan modules and the power supplies must face the same direction, port-side intake or exhaust, so the choice follows the rack’s hot-aisle and cold-aisle layout.
NX-OS mode needs NXOS-9.3.7 or later and ACI mode needs ACI-15.1.3 or later, so a fabric on older code has to be upgraded first.
Application Scenarios
In a data center leaf layer, servers with 25G SFP28 NICs connect to the 48 downlink ports, and the six QSFP28 uplinks carry their traffic to the spine at 40G or 100G.
A rack cabled for 10G fiber can keep its existing links on the 1/10/25G ports while 25G server NICs are added later, so both speeds share one switch during the move.
A data center edge rack that distributes time can feed 1PPS and 10MHz GPS signals through the switch, which accepts them on its timing input and output connectors.

N9K-C93180YC-FX3 has 48 downlink ports of 1/10/25G SFP28, while N9K-C93108TC-FX3 and N9K-C93108TC-FX3P have 48 BASE-T downlink ports with the same six 40/100G QSFP28 uplinks, which is why its switching bandwidth is 3.6 Tbps against 2.16 Tbps. Racks cabled in copper at 100M to 10G go to N9K-C93108TC-FX3, and copper that needs 2.5G or 5G steps goes to N9K-C93108TC-FX3P. N9K-C9348GC-FX3 serves 10M, 100M and 1G copper access with four SFP28 uplink ports and two QSFP28 ports at 696 Gbps. Cisco lists Fabric Extender parent support, up to 16 Nexus 2000 units, only for N9K-C93180YC-FX3 and N9K-C93108TC-FX3P, so a FEX design cannot move to N9K-C93108TC-FX3 or N9K-C9348GC-FX3.
