The DS-C9132T-24PITK9 is a Cisco MDS 9132T 32-Gbps Fibre Channel switch for SAN access racks with port-side intake cooling and 32G links on multimode fiber. The switch has 24 active Fibre Channel ports with 24 DS-SFP-FC32G-SW shortwave optics, 1024 Gbps of aggregate bandwidth, four fans and two 650W power supplies. The Enterprise license is not included, so IVR, QoS and traffic encryption need M9100-ENT1K9= to be added.

Product Performance
Key Features
Air enters at the port side and flows front to back, so the cold aisle must face the cabling side of the rack.
DS-SFP-FC32G-SW optics reach 70 m on OM3 and 100 m on OM4 or OM5 fiber at 32G. They also run 16G and 8G links to older devices at the distances Cisco gives for those speeds.
Each port has a dedicated 32 Gbps, which adds up to 1024 Gbps full duplex across a fully activated 32-port switch.
IVR, QoS, FC-SP, traffic encryption, VSAN-based access control and fabric binding sit in the Enterprise Package. It is licensed separately across all switch ports.
The switch ships with 24 ports active. The 8-port On-Demand Activation license enables the remaining eight.
Two hot-swappable 650W supplies and four fans are installed. The 180W maximum system power sits far below the rating of a single supply.
Application Scenarios
In a rack with port-side intake cooling, the switch links 32G hosts and storage arrays over OM4 multimode fiber, where each shortwave optic reaches 100 m at 32G.
As the edge layer of a core-edge SAN, the switch terminates 24 server and array connections and joins the core over inter-switch links, with up to 16 physical links combined in a single port channel.
A fabric that still runs 8G and 16G hosts attaches them to the same switch because the ports autosense 4, 8, 16 and 32 Gbps, while new arrays use the 32G optics.

DS-C9132T-24PITK9 differs from DS-C9132T-24PISK9 in optics and license: it carries 24 32G shortwave optics and no Enterprise license, while the other bundle carries 24 16G optics with the Enterprise package included. Sites that need IVR, QoS or traffic encryption on the first order and can run 16G links should order DS-C9132T-24PISK9; otherwise M9100-ENT1K9= adds Enterprise to this SKU. A cabinet with port-side exhaust cooling needs DS-C9132T-24PETK9, the same bundle with exhaust airflow. When the first phase needs only 8 active ports, DS-C9132T-8PMITK9 keeps intake airflow and 32G optics with two fans and one power supply.
Ordering Checklist
- Airflow and spares: This is a port-side intake chassis; order DS-CAC-650W-I= and DS-C32S-FAN-I= as power supply and fan spares. The -E spares are for port-side exhaust chassis and would reverse the airflow of this switch.
- Enterprise package: The order description states the Enterprise license is not included; add M9100-ENT1K9= (or L-M9100ENT1K9=) if IVR, QoS, FC-SP or traffic encryption is needed. Without the separate line the switch ships without Enterprise features.
- Port activation: 24 ports are active at order; add M9132T-PL8= (or the Smart license M9132T-PL8-SL=) to reach 32. Without the 8-port activation the last eight ports stay inactive.
