The DS-C9132T-24PETK9 is a Cisco MDS 9132T Series 32G Fibre Channel switch for server-rack access to the SAN core. The 1RU switch has 24 active ports of a 32-port maximum, autosensing speeds of 4, 8, 16 and 32 Gbps, 1024 Gbps of aggregate bandwidth, 24 32G shortwave optics and port-side exhaust airflow. The Enterprise license is not included, so IVR, port security and traffic encryption need M9100-ENT1K9= or L-M9100ENT1K9=.

Key Features
Every active port has a 32G shortwave optic, so multimode links come up at 32G with no separate optic purchase for the first 24 ports.
The base license covers the switch hardware only. IVR, QoS, FC-SP, port security and traffic encryption are enabled by adding the MDS 9000 Enterprise package.
Twenty-four ports are active at the start, and one 8-port activation license, M9132T-PL8, brings the switch to its 32-port limit.
Air leaves through the port side toward the cable face. The 650W AC supplies and fan modules are the exhaust variants, DS-CAC-650W-E and DS-C32S-FAN-E.
Each 16-port group holds up to 8300 buffer credits, defaulting to 500 per port and reaching 8270 on a single port for long-distance links.
Two 10/100/1000 management ports, a serial console and a USB auto-provision port are fitted. The switch runs Cisco MDS NX-OS 8.2(1) or later.
Application Scenarios
At the top of a server row, the switch connects 32G hosts to the SAN core over multimode cabling, with a 32G shortwave optic already in each of the 24 active ports.
A storage cluster that runs one flat fabric without inter-VSAN routing or traffic encryption can use the switch without adding the Enterprise package.
In rows where air leaves through the cable face, the exhaust airflow matches the hot aisle, and the 24-port start leaves room to reach 32 ports later.

DS-C9132T-24PETK9 is the exhaust-airflow 24-port bundle with 24 x 32G shortwave optics and no Enterprise license, while DS-C9132T-24PESK9 has the same airflow and ports but ships 24 x 16G shortwave optics with the Enterprise license included. Fabrics that need IVR, port security or traffic encryption from the first day, and run 16G links, take DS-C9132T-24PESK9 instead of adding M9100-ENT1K9= or L-M9100ENT1K9= to DS-C9132T-24PETK9. Racks with port-side intake airflow use DS-C9132T-24PITK9 for the 32G, no-license profile or DS-C9132T-24PISK9 for the 16G Enterprise profile. All four start at 24 active ports and reach 32 with one M9132T-PL8.
Ordering Checklist
- Airflow-matched power and fans: This is a port-side exhaust chassis; order spares power supply DS-CAC-650W-E= and fan module DS-C32S-FAN-E=. Intake spares in an exhaust chassis reverse the airflow.
- Enterprise license: It is not included in this PID; add M9100-ENT1K9= or L-M9100ENT1K9= when IVR, QoS, FC-SP, port security or traffic encryption is needed. Without the Enterprise package those features are not licensed on the switch.
- Port activation: 24 ports are active at order; add one M9132T-PL8 (or M9132T-PL8-SL= for Smart licensing) to reach 32. Ports 25 to 32 stay unusable without the 8-port activation license.
- Optic range: 24 x 32G SW optics are included; for single-mode links add DS-SFP-FC32G-LW= or DS-SFP-FC32G-ELW. Shortwave optics cover only multimode runs, so long links need single-mode optics added.
- Optional management packages: Add SAN Insights L-D-M91S-AXK9= and DCNM for SAN DCNM-SAN-M91-K9= as needed. Neither package is part of the bundle and each is its own order line.
