The DS-C9132T-24PESK9 is a Cisco MDS 9132T Series 32G Fibre Channel switch for server-rack access to the SAN core. The 1RU switch has 24 active ports of a 32-port maximum, autosensing speeds of 4, 8, 16 and 32 Gbps, 1024 Gbps of aggregate bandwidth, 24 16G shortwave optics and port-side exhaust airflow. The switch includes the Enterprise license, and one M9132T-PL8 activation license brings it to 32 ports.

Product Performance
Key Features
IVR, QoS, FC-SP, port security, traffic encryption, VSAN access control and fabric binding are licensed across every port.
Twenty-four ports are active at the start, and one 8-port activation license, M9132T-PL8, brings the switch to its 32-port limit.
Every active port has a 16G shortwave optic, so multimode links run at 16G on day one. The ports autosense 32G when optics are swapped.
Air leaves through the port side toward the cable face. The 650W AC supplies and fan modules are the exhaust variants, DS-CAC-650W-E and DS-C32S-FAN-E.
Each 16-port group holds up to 8300 buffer credits, defaulting to 500 per port and reaching 8270 on a single port for long-distance links.
Two power supplies, four fan modules and the SFP+ optics are hot-swappable, and ISSU lets the software be upgraded without taking the switch out of service.
Application Scenarios
At the top of a server rack, the switch links hosts to the SAN core on 24 active ports, with the included 16G shortwave optics ready for multimode runs inside the row.
A shared storage fabric can use the Enterprise license for inter-VSAN routing, port security and traffic encryption between tenants and arrays.
A data center with 16G hosts and arrays can start on the included 16G optics and move links to 32G one port at a time on the same switch.

DS-C9132T-24PESK9 and DS-C9132T-24PETK9 are both exhaust-airflow 24-port bundles, but DS-C9132T-24PESK9 includes 24 x 16G shortwave optics and the Enterprise license, while DS-C9132T-24PETK9 includes 24 x 32G shortwave optics and leaves the Enterprise license out. Fabrics that run 32G links on day one and are happy to buy Enterprise separately (M9100-ENT1K9= or L-M9100ENT1K9=) move to DS-C9132T-24PETK9. Racks where cold air enters at the port side need the intake pair: DS-C9132T-24PISK9 has the same 16G optics and Enterprise license as DS-C9132T-24PESK9, and DS-C9132T-24PITK9 matches DS-C9132T-24PETK9 with 32G optics and no license. All four start at 24 active ports and reach 32 with one M9132T-PL8.
Ordering Checklist
- Airflow-matched power and fans: This is a port-side exhaust chassis; order spares power supply DS-CAC-650W-E= and fan module DS-C32S-FAN-E=. Intake spares in an exhaust chassis reverse the airflow.
- Enterprise license: It is included in this PID, so do not add M9100-ENT1K9= or L-M9100ENT1K9=. Adding the Enterprise package a second time duplicates a license already in the bundle.
- Port activation: 24 ports are active at order; add one M9132T-PL8 (or M9132T-PL8-SL= for Smart licensing) to reach 32. Ports 25 to 32 stay unusable without the 8-port activation license.
- Optic speed: 24 x 16G SW optics are included; for 32G links add DS-SFP-FC32G-SW or DS-SFP-FC32G-LW=. The included 16G optics run links at 16G.
- Optional management packages: Add SAN Insights L-D-M91S-AXK9= and DCNM for SAN DCNM-SAN-M91-K9= as needed. Neither package is part of the bundle and each is its own order line.
