The DS-C9132T-8PMISK9 is a Cisco MDS 9132T 32-Gbps Fibre Channel fixed SAN switch for server racks that draw cooling air in through the port side. The switch has 8 active ports, eight 16G shortwave optics, two fan modules and one power supply, and the platform provides 1024 Gbps of full-duplex bandwidth with 4, 8, 16 and 32 Gbps autosensing ports. The included optics run at 16G, so links that need 32G require 32G optics.

Product Performance
Key Features
The first eight ports carry 16G shortwave SFP+ optics on dual LC connectors. They reach 15 m on OM1, 35 m on OM2, 100 m on OM3 and 125 m on OM4.
The ports support 32 Gbps with dedicated bandwidth each, so moving a link to 32G means swapping the optic rather than the switch. The 32G ports also accept existing 16G and 8G optics.
Cooling air enters at the port side and the system fans move 50 CFM at 25 C, with a 100 CFM maximum. The power supply and fan spares for this switch are the intake versions.
An 8-port activation license raises the active count to 16, and the 16-port expansion module takes an 8-port switch to 24. A 16-port switch with the module reaches 32.
Each 16-port group holds up to 8300 buffer credits, with 500 per port by default. A PortChannel joins up to 16 physical links into one inter-switch connection.
The power supplies, fan modules and SFP+ optics can be replaced in service. This switch has two fan modules and one 650W AC supply, so a second supply can be added for redundancy.
Application Scenarios
A rack that pulls cooling air through the port side can mount the switch as the Fibre Channel access layer for the servers in that row.
A small SAN, such as a lab moving into production, can connect its first hosts and arrays over the eight 16G shortwave optics at up to 100 m on OM3 fiber.
A site that begins with eight links can add activation licenses or the 16-port expansion module on the same chassis as host and storage counts rise toward 32 ports.

DS-C9132T-8PMISK9 and DS-C9132T-8PMESK9 are the same eight-port bundle with eight 16G SW optics, split only by airflow: this model is port-side intake and DS-C9132T-8PMESK9 is port-side exhaust. Links that must run at 32G over shortwave fiber need DS-C9132T-8PMITK9, the intake bundle with eight 32G SW optics, while existing 16G or 8G optics also work in the 32G ports. Buyers who prefer to choose optics line by line can start from DS-C9132T-MIK9, which has the same eight active ports, two fans, one power supply and intake airflow, with no optics in its order description. Neither bundle description lists an Enterprise license.
Ordering Checklist
- Airflow spares: Order the port-side intake spares DS-CAC-650W-I= power supply and DS-C32S-FAN-I= fan module, matching this switch. The exhaust spares are different PIDs, and a mismatched fan or supply reverses airflow in the rack.
- Port activation: The bundle starts with 8 active ports; M9132T-PL8 adds 8 ports for a maximum of 16, and the M9XT-FC1632 expansion module adds 16 for a maximum of 24. Ports beyond the factory 8 stay unusable until the license or module is on the order.
- Extra optics: The bundle carries 8 x 16G SW optics (DS-SFP-FC16G-SW); single-mode links need DS-SFP-FC16G-LW=. Only eight optics ship, so additional active ports or long-reach links need separate optic lines.
- Enterprise package: The order description lists no Enterprise license; M9100-ENT1K9= or L-M9100ENT1K9= covers IVR, QoS, FC-SP, port security and traffic encryption. Those features are unavailable unless the package is ordered as its own line.
