The DS-C9132T-8PMESK9 is a Cisco MDS 9132T 32-Gbps Fibre Channel switch for compact SAN access racks with port-side exhaust airflow. The switch has 8 active Fibre Channel ports with eight DS-SFP-FC16G-SW 16G shortwave optics, 1024 Gbps of aggregate bandwidth, two fans and one 650W power supply. The Enterprise Package is not part of the bundle description, and ports beyond the first 8 need the 8-port On-Demand Activation license or the 16-port expansion module.

Product Performance
Key Features
Eight of the 16 SFP+ base ports are active at shipment. Enabling another eight needs the On-Demand Activation license, and the 16-port expansion module adds 16 more.
One DS-SFP-FC16G-SW optic covers each active port. At 16G it reaches 35 m on OM2, 100 m on OM3 and 125 m on OM4 or OM5.
The ports autosense 4, 8, 16 and 32 Gbps, so links can move to 32G optics later without a hardware change.
Air moves back to front and leaves toward the ports, so the hot aisle sits on the cabling side of the rack.
IVR, QoS, FC-SP, traffic encryption, VSAN-based access control and fabric binding belong to the Enterprise Package, which the bundle description does not include.
The 650W supply, the fan modules and the SFP+ optics can be replaced while the switch is running.
Application Scenarios
A small storage rack uses the 8 active ports for its first host, array and inter-switch links on a 1RU switch.
A site with 16G host adapters on OM3 cabling reaches 100 m per link with the eight included optics while moving to a 32G-capable switch.
In a cabinet built around back-to-front airflow, the fans move air from the power supply side out through the port side.

DS-C9132T-8PMESK9 and DS-C9132T-8PMETK9 are both exhaust-airflow 8-port bundles with two fans and one power supply, and they differ in optics: eight 16G shortwave in this SKU against eight 32G shortwave in DS-C9132T-8PMETK9, so links that must run at 32G on day one need DS-C9132T-8PMETK9. A cabinet with port-side intake cooling needs DS-C9132T-8PMISK9, the same 16G bundle with intake airflow. DS-C9132T-8MESTK9 mixes four 32G and four 16G optics and adds 1-year DCNM and SAN Insights terms for sites that want those subscriptions in the first order. None of the four lists the Enterprise package, so IVR or traffic encryption means adding M9100-ENT1K9=.
Ordering Checklist
- Airflow and spares: This is a port-side exhaust chassis; order DS-CAC-650W-E= and DS-C32S-FAN-E= as power supply and fan spares. The -I spares are for port-side intake chassis and would reverse the airflow of this switch.
- Enterprise package: The order description does not list it; add M9100-ENT1K9= if IVR, QoS, FC-SP or traffic encryption is needed. Without the separate line the switch ships without Enterprise features.
- Port expansion: 8 ports are active at order; M9132T-PL8= adds 8 more, or the M9XT-FC1632= expansion module adds 16 active ports. Links beyond the first 8 stay inactive until the activation or module is ordered.
