The N3K-AD-XF is a Cisco Nexus 3000 Series NX-OS Advantage license for data center switches in the XF platform class below 6.4 Tbps. The license is perpetual and assigned to one physical switch, and the Advantage package adds MPLS Layer 3 VPN, SR-MPLS, Tenant Routed Multicast and VXLAN EVPN Multi-site to the Essentials feature set. The license is not portable between devices, and feature availability varies by platform and NX-OS release.

N3K-AD-XF is the perpetual NX-OS Advantage license for Nexus 3000 switches below 6.4 Tbps, while N3K-AD-XF2 carries the same package and perpetual term for switches above 6.4 Tbps, so the throughput class of the switch decides between the two. Below 6.4 Tbps, a design that only needs routing and telemetry features such as BGP, OSPF, PIM and VXLAN BGP EVPN can use N3K-ES-XF, the Essentials package for that class. N3K-AD-XF is the choice when the design needs MPLS Layer 3 VPN, SR-MPLS, Tenant Routed Multicast or VXLAN EVPN Multi-site, which Cisco lists only in Advantage. Where both tiers are present, Advantage takes priority over Essentials.
