NXOS-AD-XF Description
The NXOS-AD-XF is a Cisco NX-OS Advantage perpetual license for Cisco Nexus 9000 Series fixed switches in the 10G, 25G, 40G and 100G tier. The package includes all Essentials features plus VXLAN EVPN Multi-site, SR-MPLS, MPLS Layer 3 VPN and Intelligent Packet Flow load balancing. The license is not portable between devices, and the tier does not cover modular chassis or the Nexus 9364C and 9300-GX platforms.

Application Scenarios
In a multi-site VXLAN EVPN data center, Nexus 9000 fixed switches with this license can act as border gateways, a function the Essentials package does not include.
A fixed Nexus 9000 switch at the edge of a data center can terminate MPLS Layer 3 VPN, SR-MPLS or Layer 3 EVPN over SRv6 under this license.
Fabrics built from 10G to 100G fixed switches can spread traffic with Dynamic Load Balancing and per-packet load balancing, which need NX-OS 10.5.3(F) or later and the hardware-profile dlb feature.

NXOS-AD-XF is the Advantage license for 10G, 25G, 40G and 100G Nexus 9000 fixed platforms, while NXOS-AD-XF2 covers only the Cisco Nexus 9364C and 9300-GX platforms, so a 9300-GX switch needs NXOS-AD-XF2 even though it runs above 10G. 1G fixed platforms take NXOS-AD-GF instead, and the Advantage package is the same in all three, so the switch platform alone decides the PID. A switch that already holds Essentials or LAN reaches Advantage with NXOS-UPG-ES-AD-XF= or NXOS-UPG-L-AD-XF= rather than a new NXOS-AD-XF line, whereas NXOS-AD-GF lists only the LAN route, NXOS-UPG-L-AD-GF=. 800G fixed platforms and modular chassis use different PIDs.
Ordering Checklist
- Platform tier: Confirm the target is a 10G, 25G, 40G or 100G Nexus 9000 fixed switch and not a Nexus 9364C or 9300-GX. The XF tier covers 10G to 100G fixed platforms, and a license from the wrong tier cannot be used on the switch.
- New license or upgrade: Order NXOS-UPG-ES-AD-XF= for a switch holding Essentials and NXOS-UPG-L-AD-XF= for one holding LAN. An installed switch upgrades with these PIDs and needs no new NXOS-AD-XF line.
- Add-on licenses: Add ACI-SEC-XF for security, ACI-STRG for storage and NXOS-NDB for Nexus Data Broker, each as its own line. NXOS-SEC-XF and NXOS-STRG are no longer orderable.
- Software release: Confirm the switch runs Cisco NX-OS Release 7.0(3)I7(3) or later. The Essentials, Advantage and add-on licenses are supported on Nexus 9000 Series switches from that release.
