Advantage adds SD-Access, IPsec, app hosting, Encrypted Traffic Analytics and network assurance beyond what Essentials includes.
The term is 3 years, with 5 and 7-year versions of the same 48-port license available for longer coverage.
The license belongs to the 48-port copper line, which is kept apart from the 48-port 1G fiber line.
New subscriptions must be the same tier as the Network Stack license on the switch, and Cisco publishes no downgrade path from Advantage to Essentials.
ThousandEyes Network and Application Synthetics and a Cisco Spaces Extend entitlement come with the Advantage subscription for its full term.
Support under the Cisco DNA subscription is software-only, with a 1-hour TAC response target for severity 1 and 2 requests.

C9300-DNA-A-48-3Y is the DNA Advantage, 3-year license for 48-port copper Catalyst 9300 switches, while C9300-DNA-A-48S-3Y covers 48-port 1G fiber hosts at the same tier and term, so the host model decides between them. Hardware on Network Essentials takes C9300-DNA-E-48-3Y instead, since a new order keeps the subscription at the same tier as the Network Stack license. Terms beyond three years use C9300-DNA-A-48-5Y, the default term in the configurator. Advantage is also the tier that SD-Access requires, and Cisco lists no downgrade PID from Advantage to Essentials.
Ordering Checklist
- License group: Use the 48-port copper line, C9300-DNA-A-48-xY, for hosts such as C9300-48T-A and C9300-48P-A. Cisco keeps separate license lines for copper and 1G fiber models, and the C9300-DNA-A-48S line does not match a copper host.
- Tier: Keep DNA Advantage, matching the -A suffix of the switch. New orders must keep the subscription at the same tier as the Network Stack license.
- Term: Select 3Y in place of the 5-year default. The configurator defaults to a 5-year term, so a 3-year entitlement has to be selected.
- Smart Account: Use an existing Smart Account, or create a new one at purchase. Catalyst 9300 licenses are stored in the Smart Account, and the order cannot be placed without one.
