FPR4145-ASA-K9 Description
The FPR4145-ASA-K9 is a Cisco Firepower 4100 Series ASA firewall appliance for data center and enterprise edge boundaries with large session counts. The 1RU appliance provides 80 Gbps of stateful inspection throughput (1500B UDP), 50 Gbps multiprotocol throughput, 40 million concurrent connections, 20,000 VPN peers, eight 1/10G SFP+ ports and two network module bays. ASA and Threat Defense are separate appliance models on the 4145 hardware.

Product Performance
Key Features
The 4145 sustains 50 Gbps of multiprotocol traffic with 40 million concurrent connections and 1.5 million new connections per second. The 4125 stops at 45 Gbps, 25 million and 1.1 million.
Memory is double the 192 GB on the 4115 and 4125, which is where the larger connection table is held.
The chassis ships with dual 1100W AC supplies in 1+1 redundancy. A 950W DC supply is the optional DC input.
The fixed SFP+ ports run 1G or 10G, and the bays add 100G, 40G, 10G or fail-to-wire modules. The maximum is 24 x 10G or 4 x 100G ports.
IPsec throughput is 23 Gbps and the peer limit is 20,000, against 19 Gbps for the 4125 and 15 Gbps for the 4115.
Ten security contexts are included up to 250, and ASA active/active high availability uses multiple contexts. Clusters can reach 16 appliances.
Application Scenarios
A data center with heavy east-west and north-south flows can place the appliance at its edge, where 40 million concurrent connections and 1.5 million new connections per second set the session ceiling.
A multinational network that backhauls branch and remote-user tunnels to one site can terminate them on the appliance, which carries 23 Gbps of IPsec throughput and 20,000 VPN peers.
A hosting provider can give each customer a separate security context, starting with 10 included and extending to 250 on the same chassis.

FPR4145-ASA-K9 and FPR4125-ASA-K9 are both 1RU ASA appliances with 800 GB of storage and dual 1100W AC supplies, and FPR4145-ASA-K9 has 384 GB of memory against 192 GB, 50 Gbps of ASA multiprotocol throughput against 45 Gbps, 40 million concurrent connections against 25 million, and 23 Gbps of IPsec VPN against 19 Gbps. Sites whose ASA sizing stays within 45 Gbps, 25 million connections and 19 Gbps of IPsec VPN can order FPR4125-ASA-K9 instead. FPR4145-NGFW-K9 has identical hardware and the same figures in the table, so the choice between it and FPR4145-ASA-K9 is only the software the deployment runs, ASA or NGFW.
