C9300-NM-8X Description
The C9300-NM-8X is a Cisco Catalyst 9300 Series hot-swappable uplink network module for C9300 modular-uplink access switches that aggregate 10G links. The module has eight SFP+ slots, each running at 1GE or 10GE with any mix of SFP and SFP+ optics, and needs no separate software subscription. The module fits only C9300 switches, not Catalyst 9300X, 9300L or 9300LM switches, and an empty uplink bay needs a blank module to keep chassis airflow.

C9300-NM-8X is the 10G option among the Catalyst 9300 uplink modules: eight SFP+ slots run each port at 1GE or 10GE, against four 1GE-only SFP slots on C9300-NM-4G. A 1G-only design with four uplinks can use C9300-NM-4G, and two 40GE QSFP+ slots, native or as 4x10G breakout, call for C9300-NM-2Q. C9300-NM-8X is the default module on a new C9300 modular-uplink order, so any other choice must be made on the order. A Catalyst 9300X switch cannot take it and uses C9300X-NM modules.
Ordering Checklist
- Catalyst 9300 hosts: Order the module for Catalyst 9300 modular-uplink switches (C9300 SKUs), such as C9300-24P-E, C9300-48P-E, C9300-24T-E and C9300-48T-E. It fits only the C9300 modular-uplink slot.
- Unsupported hosts: Do not order it for Catalyst 9300X switches, which take C9300X-NM modules, or for fixed-uplink C9300L and C9300LM models. Network modules do not work across generations, and fixed-uplink models have no module slot.
