C9300X-NM-2C Description
The C9300X-NM-2C is a Cisco Catalyst 9300X network module for 40G and 100G uplinks. It provides two dual-rate QSFP28 ports that run at 100G or 40G and installs in the uplink slot of Catalyst 9300X switches. Standard Catalyst 9300 switches do not support it, and Cisco IOS XE Bengaluru 17.5.1 is the first release that does.

Application Scenarios
A Catalyst 9300X access switch in a wiring closet uses the two QSFP28 ports to carry traffic to the aggregation or distribution layer at 100G, or at 40G toward older distribution switches.
On a host that supports breakout, a QSFP28 port can fan out to several lower-speed links, which suits a mixed uplink design that needs only two ports.

C9300X-NM-2C and C9300X-NM-4C both carry 100G/40G QSFP ports, but C9300X-NM-2C has two against four, and it suits every Catalyst 9300X host while C9300X-NM-4C is listed only for C9300X-24Y, C9300X-48HX and C9300X-48TX. Uplink designs that need four 100G or 40G ports on one of those three hosts move to C9300X-NM-4C, which was introduced a release later, in Cisco IOS XE 17.6.1. Links built on 1G, 10G or 25G SFP optics need C9300X-NM-8Y, with eight SFP28 ports. A standard Catalyst 9300 switch cannot take any C9300X module and uses C9300-NM-2Q for two 40G QSFP+ ports.
Ordering Checklist
- Catalyst 9300X hosts: Use the module in Catalyst 9300X modular-uplink switches, including the 48-port 10G/mGig and 24-port 25G models. It fits only Catalyst 9300X switches; standard Catalyst 9300 models take C9300-NM modules instead.
- C9300X-48HXN hosts: C9300X-48HXN accepts C9300X-NM modules with a reduced port count. Not every module port is usable on this host.
