C9500-NM-8X Description
The C9500-NM-8X is a Cisco Catalyst 9500 Series network module for the uplink bay of C9500-16X and C9500-40X fixed switches. The module adds eight 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP/SFP+ ports that accept standard SFP modules. It is not supported on C9500X-28C8D, C9500X-60L4D, C9500-32C, C9500-32QC, C9500-48Y4C or C9500-24Y4C, which use their fixed ports as the only uplinks.

C9500-NM-8X and C9500-NM-2Q fit the same uplink bays of the Catalyst 9500 base PIDs C9500-16X and C9500-40X, and port form separates them: C9500-NM-8X gives eight 1/10G SFP/SFP+ ports, while C9500-NM-2Q gives two 40G QSFP+ ports. Uplink plans built on 40G QSFP media need C9500-NM-2Q, and plans built from individual 1G or 10G SFP optics stay on C9500-NM-8X. A bay that will carry no data ports is filled with NM-C4-10G-BLANK, which has no Ethernet ports, because the switch should run with either a network module or a blank module installed. Neither module is used on C9500-24Y4C or C9500-48Y4C, which rely on their fixed QSFP28 uplinks.
Ordering Checklist
- Catalyst 9500 hosts: Pair the module with C9500-16X and C9500-40X base switches. The switch should run with either a network module or a blank module installed.
- Bundled switch PIDs: C9500-24X-A and C9500-24X-E already include the 8-port 10G SFP network module. A separate C9500-NM-8X line is for base switch orders only.
