C9K-F1-SSD-240G Description
The C9K-F1-SSD-240G is a Cisco Catalyst 9500 Series High Performance pluggable SATA SSD module for adding local storage to switches that run application hosting and packet capture. The module provides 240GB of capacity, mounts as disk0: with EXT4 as the default file system, and installs in the rear slot of the C9500-32C, C9500-32QC, C9500-48Y4C and C9500-24Y4C. The module is not supported on the C9500-16X, and it does not support non-EXT file systems, ROMMON boot or SATA firmware upgrades.

On a Catalyst 9500 High Performance core switch, the module gives the switch 240GB of disk0: space so packet captures and trace logs stay on the switch instead of an external server.
A data center or campus aggregation switch running KVM, Linux container or Docker workloads can keep application images and data on the module, which mounts as disk0: with EXT4 by default.

C9K-F1-SSD-240G provides 240GB of storage, against 480GB on C9K-F1-SSD-480G and 960GB on C9K-F1-SSD-960G, and capacity is the only difference in the comparison table. All three fit C9500-32C, C9500-32QC, C9500-48Y4C and C9500-24Y4C, and none is supported on C9500-16X. Catalyst 9500X switches such as C9500X-28C8D-A use the C9K-F3-SSD-240GB, C9K-F3-SSD-480GB and C9K-F3-SSD-960GB line instead, so no C9K-F1 option fits them. Application hosting, packet captures or trace logs that need more than 240GB of local disk0: space move to C9K-F1-SSD-480G or C9K-F1-SSD-960G, with 960 GB the largest SATA SSD capacity Cisco lists for these switches.
Ordering Checklist
- Catalyst 9500 High Performance hosts: Install in C9500-32C, C9500-32QC, C9500-48Y4C or C9500-24Y4C. The accessory matrix marks the C9K-F1 SSD family as supported on these four models and not on C9500-16X.
- Catalyst 9500X hosts: Do not order for Catalyst 9500X; those switches use C9K-F3-SSD-240GB, C9K-F3-SSD-480GB or C9K-F3-SSD-960GB. The C9K-F1 module is not part of the Catalyst 9500X hardware documentation, and the two SSD lines are not interchangeable.
