The C9K-F2-SSD-480GB is a Cisco Catalyst 9600 Series 480GB M.2 SATA SSD module for local storage on Catalyst 9600 supervisor engines. The module is a 22 x 88 mm M.2 SATA card with 480GB of capacity, mounts as disk0: in Cisco IOS XE, and supports the EXT2, EXT3 and EXT4 file systems. The module fits only the M.2 connector on a Catalyst 9600 supervisor, so the supervisor has to be removed from the chassis for installation.

C9K-F2-SSD-480GB is the middle capacity of the three Catalyst 9600 SSD options at 480GB, against 240GB on C9K-F2-SSD-240GB and 960GB on C9K-F2-SSD-960GB, and the Cisco ordering table lists no other difference between them. The ordering guide preselects 960GB on the primary supervisor, so a 480GB build changes that line to C9K-F2-SSD-480GB. Cisco lists up to 960 GB of SSD storage on both C9600-SUP-1 and C9600X-SUP-2, so projects that need more local space for application hosting, packet capture or trace logs move to C9K-F2-SSD-960GB, and those that need less use C9K-F2-SSD-240GB. These are Catalyst 9600 parts and do not fit Catalyst 9500 switches, which use the C9K-F1 or C9K-F3 SSD lines.
Ordering Checklist
- Catalyst 9600 supervisors: Match to C9600-SUP-1 and C9600X-SUP-2, which carry the M.2 SATA SSD connector. SSD storage is documented for both supervisors, while the ordering guide gives no per-supervisor SSD compatibility matrix.
- Default SSD line: Change the 960GB SSD that the configurator preselects on the primary supervisor to C9K-F2-SSD-480GB. Leaving the default adds the 960GB SSD instead of the 480GB module.
- Catalyst 9500 hosts: Do not order for Catalyst 9500; C9K-F2 is the Catalyst 9600 SSD family. The C9K-F2 PIDs are Catalyst 9600 parts and are not Catalyst 9500 accessories.
