Select this SKU when the chassis must run a matched 3XL supervisor pair in slots 5 and 6. Cisco documentation does not support mixing C9610-SUP-3 and C9610-SUP-3XL in the same redundant chassis, so the installed module and the spare order should be checked together.
Choose C9610-SUP-3XL when a migration from an older modular core needs C9610R line-card capacity plus higher IPv4, IPv6, ACL, and Flexible NetFlow scale than the Supervisor 3 module provides.

If two supervisors are required, confirm both modules are C9610-SUP-3XL before purchase approval. A mixed C9610-SUP-3 and C9610-SUP-3XL pair should be removed from the bill of materials.
3. Check line cards and software together
Validate native C9610 line cards, any Catalyst 9600 adapter-based line cards, and the Cisco IOS XE release in the same review so the supervisor order does not pass while the surrounding hardware plan remains unresolved.
