C9610-SUP-3XL Description
The C9610-SUP-3XL is a Cisco C9610 Series Supervisor 3XL module for C9610R chassis in large campus core and gateway designs. The module has four Cisco Silicon One K100 forwarding ASICs, 51.2 Tbps of system switching capacity, up to 2,000,000 IPv4 routes, 1,000,000 IPv6 routes and a packet buffer of 256 MB plus 8 GB. It installs only in supervisor slots 5 and 6 of the C9610R, and the chassis cannot mix it with a C9610-SUP-3.

In a campus core that carries up to 2,000,000 IPv4 and 1,000,000 IPv6 routes, the supervisor lets the C9610R hold the full table without the 1,000,000-route ceiling of the Supervisor 3 module.
At a campus edge or gateway, the module supports 36,000 security ACL entries per direction, a larger policy set than the 21,000 entries of the C9610-SUP-3.

C9610-SUP-3XL and C9610-SUP-3 install in the same C9610R supervisor slots 5 and 6 with the same 51.2 Tbps system capacity, 15.6 Bpps forwarding rate and 32 GB DRAM, and what separates them is table scale: C9610-SUP-3XL uses Silicon One K100 ASICs for up to 2,000,000 IPv4 and 1,000,000 IPv6 routes, 36,000 security ACL entries and 64,000 NetFlow entries per direction, and 256 MB plus 8 GB of packet buffer. Designs that stay within 1,000,000 IPv4 and 500,000 IPv6 routes and a 256 MB buffer can use C9610-SUP-3 on E100 ASICs. A redundant C9610R carries two supervisors of the same type, and both are supported from Cisco IOS XE 17.18.1.
Ordering Checklist
- PID spelling: Search and order C9610-SUP-3XL, the PID in the datasheet and installation note; the ordering guide table prints it as C9610-SUP-3-XL. A search or BOM line for the other spelling can miss the same supervisor.
- Chassis and slots: Install C9610-SUP-3XL in C9610R supervisor slots 5 and 6, using the same supervisor type in both when two are fitted. It is supported only in those slots.
- Line card adapter: Add C9610-LC-ADPT for C9600X-LC-32CD, C9600-LC-40YL4CD, C9600X-LC-56YL4C or C9600-LC-48TX. These Catalyst 9600 line cards require the adapter card to work with the supervisors in C9610R.
- Optional SSD: Order C9610-SSD-480G-V1 or C9610-SSD-960G-V1 separately for the optional SATA SSD slot on the supervisor front. The SSD is its own part number.
