C9600-LC-48YL Description
The C9600-LC-48YL is a Cisco Catalyst 9600 Series 48-port 50/25/10/1GE line card for campus core and distribution layers that terminate mostly SFP optics. The 48 SFP56 ports run 25/10/1GE with C9600-SUP-1 at 1.2 Tbps full-duplex slot bandwidth and 50/25/10/1GE with C9600X-SUP-2 at 3.2 Tbps, and the card installs in the Catalyst 9606R chassis. The card does not support MACsec with C9600X-SUP-2, and 50GE operation is available only on that supervisor.

C9600-LC-48YL and C9600-LC-24C both seat on C9600-SUP-1 and C9600X-SUP-2, but C9600-LC-48YL carries 48 SFP56 ports for SFP optics while C9600-LC-24C carries 24 QSFP28 ports at 40GE and 100GE, so the optic family at the far end decides between them. Neither card supports MACsec with C9600X-SUP-2, so a core that must encrypt links on that engine needs C9600X-LC-56YL4C, which keeps MACsec, adds WAN MACsec under an HSEC license and brings 56 SFP56 ports plus 4 QSFP28 ports. That card is rated 420 W against 230 W or 300 W here and needs Cisco IOS XE 17.13.1, and it will not seat on C9600-SUP-1.
Ordering Checklist
- Chassis: Install the card in one of the 4 line card slots of C9606R; slots 3 and 4 are reserved for supervisor engines. The card fits only the Catalyst 9600 chassis line card slots.
- Supervisor engines: Pair the card with C9600-SUP-1 or C9600X-SUP-2. It operates with both engines, and no other supervisor engine is supported in the C9606R.
