The C9600-LC-24C is a Cisco Catalyst 9600 Series single-slot QSFP28 line card for medium port-density campus core designs. The card provides 24 ports at 40 GE or 12 ports at 100 GE with C9600-SUP-1, and 24 ports of 100/40 GE with C9600X-SUP-2, in the Catalyst 9606R chassis. MACsec-256 runs with C9600-SUP-1, but the card does not support MACsec with C9600X-SUP-2.

C9600-LC-24C is the QSFP28 card of this group, with 24 ports at 40 GE and 100 GE, while C9600-LC-48YL carries 48 SFP56 ports at up to 50 GE, so the choice starts with whether the links are fewer and faster or many and moderate. Both cards run on C9600-SUP-1 and C9600X-SUP-2, and neither supports MACsec with C9600X-SUP-2; a chassis that needs MACsec on that engine together with 100G ports needs C9600X-LC-32CD. Links above 100 GE, such as 400 GE, also need C9600X-LC-32CD, which runs only with C9600X-SUP-2 and holds 128 100G ports in a C9606R against 96 here. A C9606R on C9600-SUP-1 stays with C9600-LC-24C, since C9600X-LC-32CD is not supported on that engine.
