C9610-SUP-3 Description
The C9610-SUP-3 is a Cisco C9610 Series Supervisor 3 module for C9610R chassis in high-speed campus distribution and collapsed-core designs. The module has four Cisco Silicon One E100 forwarding ASICs, 51.2 Tbps of system switching capacity, 15.6 Bpps of forwarding rate and 32 GB DRAM, with up to 1,000,000 IPv4 routes and a 256 MB packet buffer. It installs only in supervisor slots 5 and 6 of the C9610R, and the chassis cannot mix it with a C9610-SUP-3XL.

Application Scenarios
In a collapsed-core building, a pair of supervisors in slots 5 and 6 runs Layer 2 and Layer 3 forwarding for the C9610R with routing tables of up to 1,000,000 IPv4 routes.
At the distribution layer of a campus, the supervisor connects C9610 line cards at up to 6.4 Tbps per slot and aggregates access switches over their QSFP28 and QSFP-DD ports.

C9610-SUP-3 and C9610-SUP-3XL install in the same C9610R supervisor slots 5 and 6 with the same 51.2 Tbps system capacity, 15.6 Bpps forwarding rate and 32 GB DRAM, and what separates them is table scale: C9610-SUP-3 uses Silicon One E100 ASICs for up to 1,000,000 IPv4 and 500,000 IPv6 routes with a 256 MB packet buffer. Designs that need up to 2,000,000 IPv4 and 1,000,000 IPv6 routes, 36,000 security ACL entries or 64,000 NetFlow entries per direction, or the extra 8 GB of buffer, need C9610-SUP-3XL on K100 ASICs. A redundant C9610R carries two supervisors of the same type, and both are supported from Cisco IOS XE 17.18.1.
Ordering Checklist
- Chassis and slots: Install C9610-SUP-3 in C9610R supervisor slots 5 and 6, using the same supervisor type in both when two are fitted. It is supported only in the C9610R supervisor slots.
- Line card adapter: Add C9610-LC-ADPT for C9600X-LC-32CD, C9600-LC-40YL4CD, C9600X-LC-56YL4C or C9600-LC-48TX. These Catalyst 9600 line cards require the adapter card to work with the supervisors in C9610R.
- Optional SSD: Order C9610-SSD-480G-V1 or C9610-SSD-960G-V1 separately for the optional SATA SSD slot on the supervisor front. The SSD is its own part number.
