The C1000-8P-2G-L is a Cisco Catalyst 1000 Series fixed managed Gigabit Ethernet Layer 2 access switch for small branch and edge closets. It has eight 10/100/1000 RJ-45 PoE+ ports sharing a 67W PoE budget, two 1G SFP/RJ-45 combo uplinks, 20 Gbps of switching bandwidth, and a fanless chassis. Layer 3 is limited to static routing, so dynamic routing protocols are not part of the feature set.

Key Features
Eight IEEE 802.3at ports draw from one 67W pool, about 8W per port if every port is powered at once. The budget is fixed and cannot be raised.
Connected phones and cameras keep their power while the switch reloads, so a software upgrade does not reboot every powered endpoint.
Each of the two uplinks is a 1G SFP and RJ-45 combo port, so a closet can reach the router over copper or fiber without a separate uplink module.
With no fans, the 8-port chassis makes no noise, which suits desks, shelves and open office areas.
The 8-port chassis mounts on a DIN rail or in a rack with the compact bracket kits. It can also stand upright, hang with ports down, or sit under a desk.
Up to eight Gigabit Catalyst 1000 switches can be grouped over their SFP uplinks and managed from one IP address. Units with 1G uplinks group only with other 1G units.
Application Scenarios
In a small branch office, the switch powers IP phones and a wireless access point from its PoE+ ports and uplinks to the router over a 1G SFP or RJ-45 combo port.
A shop or front desk can set the switch on a shelf or under a counter to feed a point-of-sale terminal and a PoE+ IP camera, since the compact chassis has no fan.
In a classroom, the switch mounts on a wall to power a ceiling access point and connect a teaching computer, with a copper or fiber uplink back to the building closet.

C1000-8P-2G-L is the internal-power model of the 8-port 67W PoE+ pair: C1000-8P-E-2G-L has the same eight PoE+ ports, 2 x 1G combo uplinks and 67W budget but runs from an external power supply, which suits sites that want a replaceable supply. Endpoint loads above 67W, such as several PoE+ access points or cameras, need C1000-8FP-2G-L, which keeps the eight ports and raises the budget to 120W. Sites with no powered endpoints can order C1000-8T-2G-L, the data-only 8-port model with the same combo uplinks. Single IP Management groups only 1G models with other 1G models, so a closet that also uses 10G uplink models cannot share one management IP.

Ordering Checklist
- Single IP Management: Up to 8 Gigabit Catalyst 1000 switches can be grouped over the front-panel SFP uplinks, and C1000-8P-2G-L only with other 1G models. A group mixing 1G and 10G models is not supported.
- Uplink optics: Add SFP modules for the 2 combo uplinks, checked in the Cisco Transceiver Module Compatibility Matrix. Optics are not part of the switch order.
- Power cord: Select one AC power cord for the destination country. The cord is not supplied with the switch and must be selected on the order.
