The C9115AXI-S is a Cisco Catalyst 9115AX Series indoor Wi-Fi 6 access point with integrated antennas for controller-managed branch and campus rooms in the S regulatory domain. The access point has dual 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios with 4x4 MIMO and four spatial streams, antenna gain of 3 dBi on 2.4 GHz and 4 dBi on 5 GHz, and a 100/1000/2500 Multigigabit Ethernet uplink. Full 4x4 operation needs 802.3at power at 20.4W, while 802.3af at 13W limits it to 2x2 radios and a 1G link.

C9115AXI-S and C9115AXE-S share the -S regulatory suffix, 4×4 MIMO and the 2.5G Multigigabit uplink, but C9115AXI-S has four integrated dual-band antennas (3 dBi on 2.4 GHz, 4 dBi on 5 GHz) while C9115AXE-S has four RP-TNC connectors certified for external antennas up to 6 dBi. Sites whose RF plan needs directional or higher-gain antennas should order C9115AXE-S, which also draws 21.4W at 802.3at against 20.4W and weighs 2.43 lb against 1.98 lb. C9115AXI-R is the same internal-antenna body with the -R suffix, so it replaces C9115AXI-S only when the installation country maps to the R domain; the table lists no other difference between the two.
Ordering Checklist
- Controller model: If C9115AXI-S joins a CW9800 controller, pick CW9800L, CW9800M, CW9800H1 or CW9800H2 and run IOS XE 17.14.1 or later (17.18.2 or later on CW9800L). CW9800L needs a higher IOS XE release than CW9800M, CW9800H1 and CW9800H2.
- AP subscription: Order one Cisco DNA subscription or Cisco Networking Subscription (LIC-CW-E Essentials or LIC-CW-A Advantage) for each AP; the unified LIC-CW SKUs need IOS-XE 17.15.x or later. The CW9800 controller boots without a license, but every AP it manages needs its own subscription.
