STACK-T4-1M Description

STACK-T4-1M is the 1 m Cisco StackWise Type-3 data-stack cable (also known as the 1 m Type-3 stacking cable or 1 m StackWise-80/160 cable), designed to link Catalyst 9200 and 9200L switches in a StackWise-80 or StackWise-160 stack. Featuring rugged PVC jacket, proprietary Cisco copper connectors, and a ±5 mm length tolerance, it ensures reliable inter-switch connectivity over longer spans where the default 0.5 m cable is insufficient.

Questions & Answers

  • If my 1-meter stack cable fails to link switches, how should I start troubleshooting?

Confirm both ends are fully seated, examine the cable for visible damage, and swap with another link cord if possible. Check for correct port usage.
  • What’s included in the packaging when I order a 1m stack connector?

Typically, you receive the 1m stack cord and sometimes a protective sleeve. Always verify package contents for completeness.
  • How is a 1m stack cord different from a short (50cm) or long (3m) stack link?

A 1m link provides moderate reach—longer than a half-meter, but less excess cabling than a 3m cord, reducing clutter.
  • Are compatible non-Cisco stack cords available for 1m applications?

Though other cables might work physically, Cisco recommends their original stacking cables for maximum reliability.
  • What rack configurations most benefit from a 1-meter stacking cable?

Best for switches installed two or three rack units apart or on opposite sides of cable organizers.
  • Are there precautions to observe during installation of a 1m interconnect?

Always disconnect power when possible, and handle the cable gently to avoid internal conductor damage.
  • Is this link cord compatible with all stacking ports on Cisco 9200 models?

Most Cisco 9200 Series switches with StackWise-320 stacking support the 1m cord—consult your switch guide.
  • How can I verify correct operation of my 1m stacking cable?

Check CLI output with `show switch stack-ports` and look for a stable green LED on stack ports.
  • What’s the recommended path for routing a 1m stack link in network cabinets?

Route horizontally or vertically along cable management arms to avoid tight bends or tangles.
  • Will using different cable lengths affect stack topology?

Different cable lengths can be used if all cables are genuine and installed securely.
  • Is a specific software version needed for this interconnect?

Stacking features require minimum switch firmware, but the cable itself is passive.
  • How does a 1m stack cable maintain signal quality?

It uses shielded conductors to minimize interference, ensuring clear signals at moderate distances.
  • What visual signs suggest a 1m stack cable is faulty?

A blinking or amber port LED, or repeated stack reformation events, can indicate a problem.
  • Can I form ring topologies with multiple 1-meter cables?

Yes, multiple cables of any supported length can be used to create ring stacks for redundancy.
  • Where can I find Cisco’s guidelines for installing a 1m stack cord?

Refer to the Catalyst 9200 hardware installation guide or Cisco’s official website.
  • How do I spot a counterfeit 1m stack cable?

Check for Cisco branding, part numbers, and compare to images on Cisco’s support site.
  • If my 1m stacking link is unstable, what should I do?

Swap with a new cable, clean port contacts gently, and ensure correct routing.
  • Can I unplug the 1m stack connector with the switch running?

Hot-swapping is supported, but it may cause stack reconfiguration—check Cisco best practices.
  • How do I claim warranty service for a 1m stack cord?

Contact Cisco support or your reseller with your proof of purchase.
  • What is the best way to store 1m stack connectors when not in use?

Keep them loosely coiled, dry, and away from sharp objects.
