C1200-8T-D Description
The C1200-8T-D is a Cisco Catalyst 1200 Series managed Gigabit Ethernet desktop switch for desks, counters and small rooms that need eight copper data ports. The switch has 8 10/100/1000 RJ45 ports, 16.0 Gbps of switching capacity and 11.90 Mpps of forwarding in a fanless 177 x 141.5 x 30 mm chassis. The switch has no dedicated uplink ports and no PoE output, and it runs from an external AC adapter or from 802.3af PoE input on port 1.

A lab bench or service counter can use the switch to join several wired devices into one local network without any rack hardware.
Where no AC outlet is nearby, an upstream PoE port can power the switch through port 1 and feed a small cluster of endpoints.

C1200-8T-D is the desktop model of this group: it has 8 copper ports, no dedicated uplinks and 16.0 Gbps of switching, and it can be powered from PoE input on port 1, whereas C1200-8T-E-2G is rack-mountable with 2 Gigabit combo uplinks and 20.0 Gbps. Sites that need uplink ports or a rack mount move to C1200-8T-E-2G. C1200-8T-D has no PoE output budget, so powered phones or cameras need C1200-8P-E-2G with 67W, or C1200-8FP-2G with 120W and an internal AC supply.
