C1200-48P-4X Description
The C1200-48P-4X is a Cisco Catalyst 1200 Series managed Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ switch for access closets that power many endpoints and uplink over 10G fiber. The switch has 48 10/100/1000 PoE+ ports, four 10 Gigabit SFP+ uplinks, a 375W PoE budget and 176 Gbps of switching capacity. PoE+ reaches 30.0W on any port only until the 375W budget is used up, so all 48 ports cannot draw full PoE+ power at the same time.

Key Features
All 48 RJ-45 ports supply 802.3at PoE+, 802.3af and Cisco prestandard PoE, up to 30.0W on a single port, so phones, cameras and access points plug in without separate adapters.
The 375W budget is shared across the ports and covers about 7.8W per port when all 48 are in use. Fewer high-draw devices, such as 30W access points, can use more per port.
The SFP+ ports run at 10G or 1G, which lifts the uplink side well above the 1G SFP ports on C1200-48P-4G.
Wire-speed, nonblocking switching of 176 Gbps and 130.94 Mpps keeps 48 ports and the 10G uplinks from becoming a bottleneck.
A single fan, 37.3 dBA at 25 C and a 445 x 350 x 44 mm body with a 19-inch bracket in the box define the rack depth and noise a closet needs to allow for.
The built-in 100 to 240V, 50 to 60 Hz supply needs no external adapter, and power use with PoE reaches 462.84W at 110V.
Application Scenarios
A branch office or school wiring closet can power IP phones, cameras and access points from the 48 PoE+ ports and send their traffic to the aggregation switch over the four SFP+ uplinks.
A retail site with card readers, signage players and wireless access points in one rack can feed them all from this switch, using the 10G SFP+ uplinks to reach a core switch in the same building.
A classroom block with ceiling access points and desk phones on every floor can use the 375W budget for those low-draw devices while the uplinks carry the aggregated traffic upstream at 10G.

C1200-48P-4X is the 10G-uplink PoE+ model of this group: it pairs 48 PoE+ copper ports on a 375W budget with 4 x 10 Gigabit SFP+ uplinks at 176.0 Gbps, while C1200-48P-4G keeps the same ports and budget with 4 x Gigabit SFP uplinks at 104.0 Gbps, which is enough when the aggregation side runs at 1G. Closets with no PoE endpoints can use C1200-48T-4X, which keeps the 10G uplinks and 176.0 Gbps on a shallower 445 x 288 x 44 mm chassis with no PoE output. Sites with 24 or fewer powered endpoints can move to C1200-24FP-4X, which has 24 PoE+ ports on the same 375W budget, 128.0 Gbps and a 1.5 MB buffer instead of 3 MB.

Ordering Checklist
- Uplink optics: Add SFP-10G-SR, SFP-10G-LR or SFP-H10GB-CU1M, -CU3M and -CU5M copper cables for the four SFP+ ports. The package holds none of them, so the 10G uplinks stay empty until modules or cables are on the order.
- Rack kit: The 19-in. bracket ships with the switch; add RCKMNT-1RU-1K=, the separate 1RU rack kit, only if that kit is wanted. A second bracket kit duplicates the included bracket when it already fits the rack.
