C1200-8FP-2G Description
The C1200-8FP-2G is a Cisco Catalyst 1200 Series managed Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ switch for small cabinets that power a handful of endpoints. The switch has eight 10/100/1000 PoE+ ports, two Gigabit copper/SFP combo uplinks, a 120W PoE budget and 20 Gbps of switching capacity, in a fanless chassis with an internal universal AC supply. Each combo uplink activates either its copper port or its SFP slot, never both at once.

Key Features
All eight RJ-45 ports supply 802.3at PoE+, 802.3af and Cisco prestandard PoE, up to 30.0W on one port.
The 120W budget covers 15W per port across all eight ports, and a few 30W devices can draw more as long as the total stays within 120W.
Each uplink offers a copper port or a Gigabit SFP slot, with one active at a time, so the same switch can reach by cable or fiber.
With no fan and a 1.53 kg body, the switch is silent and fits desktop or compact-bracket installs.
The built-in 100 to 240V supply replaces the external supply used by C1200-8P-E-2G and delivers the larger budget.
Nonblocking 20 Gbps and 14.88 Mpps cover eight Gigabit ports and two Gigabit uplinks at full rate.
Application Scenarios
A reception area or small office can power IP phones, a camera and an access point from the eight PoE+ ports, with the combo uplink returning traffic to the main switch.
A store back room can run card readers, signage players and a wireless access point from one fanless switch that makes no fan noise near staff.
A small site with several IP cameras can connect them to the PoE+ ports and use an SFP fiber link on a combo uplink to reach a distant building.

C1200-8FP-2G is the 120W model of the 8-port group: eight PoE+ ports on a 120W budget with an internal universal AC supply, where C1200-8P-E-2G offers the same ports and combo uplinks on a 67W budget with an external power supply. Sites with no PoE endpoints can use C1200-8T-E-2G, which has the same eight ports, combo uplinks and 20.0 Gbps but no PoE output and an external power supply. More than eight powered devices, or uplinks that must be fixed 1G SFP rather than copper/SFP combo, call for C1200-16P-2G, which keeps the 120W budget with 16 PoE+ ports and 36.0 Gbps on a 268 x 297 x 44 mm chassis.

Ordering Checklist
- Rack bracket: Add RCKMNT-CMPCT-1K= for 19-in. rack mounting; only 24-port and 48-port models ship with a bracket. Without it the 8-port switch has no 19-in. rack mount.
- SFP for fiber uplinks: Add GLC-SX-MMD, GLC-LH-SMD, MGBSX1, MGBLX1 or MGBLH1 for fiber; copper uplinks need no module. Each combo port runs either its copper port or its SFP slot, and the SFP slot stays empty without a module.
