C1200-8P-E-2G Description
The C1200-8P-E-2G is a Cisco Catalyst 1200 Series managed Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ switch for small wiring closets that power phones, wireless access points and cameras. The switch has 8 PoE+ ports, 2 Gigabit copper/SFP combo uplinks, a 67W PoE budget and 20.0 Gbps of switching capacity in a fanless chassis. Each port can deliver up to 30.0W, but all eight share the 67W budget, and each combo uplink runs either its RJ45 port or its SFP slot, not both at once.

Eight 802.3at PoE+ ports share one 67W pool, which covers phones and access points comfortably but not eight devices drawing 30.0W at once.
Any Gigabit port can supply up to 30.0W until the switch budget runs out, so one high-draw device is possible when the other ports draw little.
Each of the two uplinks pairs a 10/100/1000 RJ45 port with a 1G SFP slot, and only one of the pair is active at a time.
The switch takes power from an external 100 to 240V adapter, unlike C1200-8FP-2G and C1200-16P-2G, which carry internal supplies.
The chassis has no fan, so the 8-port switch runs silently in offices and classrooms.
Static routing between VLANs lets the switch route local traffic without sending it to an upstream router.
Application Scenarios
In a small office closet, the switch powers IP phones and a wireless access point from its PoE+ ports and carries their traffic upstream through a combo uplink.

Ordering Checklist
- Rack bracket: Add RCKMNT-CMPCT-1K= if the switch goes into a 19-in. rack. Only 24-port and 48-port Catalyst 1200 models ship with the 19-in. bracket; this 8-port model does not.
- Uplink optics: Add a supported 1G SFP such as GLC-SX-MMD, GLC-LH-SMD or GLC-TE for each combo port that will use fiber or an SFP copper module. The switch order lists only the C1200-8P-E-2G PID, and each combo port runs either its RJ45 or its SFP slot, not both.
- Power adapter: The data sheet says a power adapter ships with select 8-port and 16-port SKUs without naming them; the adapter accessory is PWRADPT-WM-18-xx with the plug code for the destination country. The model uses an external supply, and the accessory list does not say which models take which adapter.
