IEM-3300-8S Description
The IEM-3300-8S is a Cisco Catalyst IE3300 expansion module for adding fiber links to industrial DIN-rail switch cabinets. It provides eight 100/1000Mbps SFP ports, takes the system to 18 total ports, and draws 19W of module power. The module carries no PoE ports, installs one per base system, and is not hot-swappable.

Application Scenarios
A plant or campus cabinet can use the eight SFP ports to reach remote cabinets and equipment rooms over fiber, with 100M or 1G optics selected for each link.
An IE3400 modular base switch can take the module as well, adding eight SFP ports, although that pairing removes SGT/SGACL advanced security from the IE3400.

IEM-3300-8S and IEM-3300-8T both add eight ports for 18 total system ports, but IEM-3300-8S gives all eight to 100/1000Mbps SFP, while IEM-3300-8T has eight copper RJ45 ports; the SFP module draws 19W against 6W. Sites that need six copper ports and only two SFP ports on the same 18-port total move to IEM-3300-6T2S. Designs that need 16 expansion ports, 14 copper and 2 SFP, move to IEM-3300-14T2S, which takes the system to 26 total ports and is wider at 3.6 in. against 2.6 in.
Ordering Checklist
- Catalyst IE3300 hosts: Pair the module with non-PoE IE-3300-8T2S and IE-3300-8T2X base switches. IEM-3300-8S= is one of the five non-PoE modules these bases accept.
- Catalyst IE3400 hosts: Pair the module with IE3400 modular base switches only if losing SGT/SGACL advanced security is acceptable. IE3300 expansion modules also fit IE3400 bases, but the combination removes that security feature from the IE3400.
